Quoted from pacman11:

Alright after shopping my game out the upper GI lighting is out. White/brown wire. Can’t figure out if I connected something wrong under the playfield. Check connectors and I am not seeing anything.
Any thoughts? Much appreciated!
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Isn't there a separate fuse for the upper GI? I would check that too.

#5402 3 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

Check continuity of wiring from driver board connectors to the string that is out -
https://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Williams_WPC#General_Illumination_Problems
Or measure AC power leaving the driver board for that string that is out.
You lost power at the board or out in the game.
LTG : )

Thanks I’ll do that,I think I plugged in a connector wrong or missing a connector but I am not seeing anything. I did check the F10 fuse which is the upper GI and it’s good.

It would be in J120 or J121.

Pulled and checked with a meter ?

Just re joined the club. My first pin purchase was a White Water back in 2006. Shopped, Tax, delivery, and set up for $1600. Boy how times have changed! Got a nice example this time as well.

The lit sign look great but the house below it is kind of underwhelming imo. I would be interested if the whole package were a bit more refined.

Has anyone applied the wpc led patch to the l-6 home rom? I curious if it's worth doing. Does anyone have the rom with the patch already applied?

Doesn't that just give you the ability to accept coins, or is there more in there?

Quoted from yaksplat:

Wpc led fix. It helps with the flickering of the leds. I did it on fish tales and it made a difference. Cheaper the a ocd led board.

The l-6 home rom adds a bunch of stuff over the l-5 rom.

WhiteWater LH-6
Checksum: $7905

NOTE: This is an 8 megabit ROM (27C080 or equivalent).

Changes since L-5:
- Display effect for combos now shows "X 5" during 5X mode.
- Occasional big scream at game start / player add.
- Occasional Big Foot scream when the final ball drains down an outlane.
- Initials timing out no longer causes them to reset.
- Vacation planer is no longer displayed during multiballs.
- Lost Mine will not kick for about 1 second after No Way Out.
- Added goofy lamp effect for End Of Ball Bonus.
- Added simple ball-saver.
- 10 point switches won't score before first score of a ball.
- Big Foot Hot Foot is now correctly cleaned up at tilt.
- Jet Bumper values corrected for multiplayer games.
- Bonus Held value corrected for multiplayer games. Added a page in Bonus
count (including last ball). Added Bonus Hold award on additional
ramp shots (6, 35, 65, 95). River Class no longer reset when bonus
is held.
- Camera Craze is now awarded on loops.
- Boomerang Bend (large right loop) is awarded if a slow ball exits
through Secret Passage. (Boomerang Bend hazard is awarded before
secret passage).
- Total Bonus display is now correct in Status Report.
- BounceBack is correctly re-lit at the start of multiball, even if it
is in the process of timing out.
- Whirlpool Challenge effects show correct state when started a second
time during the same ball.
- Kickback is now fired during ball-search.
- Mode times (including 5x) are paused while the ball is out of play, and
during multiball start effects.
- Added grace period for main multiball. Scoring a jackpot during re-match
will not cancel the re-match.
- Waterfall lights restarted after tilt.
- Added game over lamp effect and music.
many improvements over l-5

I know this is a common need. But I’m in the process of shopping my White Water and need the Boulder garden plastic mountain . Looking for original color. Willing to pay!!!
Don’t want to go with the darker remake option.

Please let me know! Thanks.

I know some don’t like the snow theme, but it really makes the game pop. Add in a pinsound board and external sub, and she really comes to life.

Just my opinion, but if you are going to so the "snow" thing...you really need to change out Bigfoot for the Yeti. To me, having the Yeti/Bumble is the best part about the snow theme.

And by the way, those silly stickers on the standup targets look terrible.

#5418 3 years ago

Hello, the transformation of the bigfoot into a yeti is relatively simple to achieve, use of the airbrush for the face and new fur!

For a frosted yeti H2WO theme, a small custom on the decal is needed.

I’d love to do the yeti bumble. Just need to be able to find one.

In response to the “silly stickers”...... good. Then don’t put them on yours...problem solved. Now we can be friends again.

#5422 3 years ago

Aflacjack I can appreciate the detail and work you put into this. I have to say the Yeti looks Phenomenal!! Its your game, you have every right to put your twist on it!

I personally am a nostalgic old schooler and love my stock theme, doesn't make it right or wrong.

I would encourage us to think more about how we respond to others, the world has enough reactionary negativity. Maybe rather than saying something looks terrible, don't say anything at all. Cheers.

Soulrider911 - well said my friend!

Like with a lot of stuff its a matter of taste...its your taste, you like it and that is fine...point!

Speaking of controversial mods, has anyone ever put some sort of wire guard or stopper so that all plunges, even strong, end up on upper playfield?

99% of the time, any plunge strong enough to get past upper PF on my game sends the ball down spine chiller and down the center drain at an angle that is very difficult to nudge or save without a tilt. So I pretty much always let it go unless it somehow activates a switch or bounces at a weird angle and goes into play. The game does give the ball back without penalty but for myself and others, especially those who have never played pinball, this can mean several attempts to plunge at the correct strength to get the ball onto the upper playfield.

Curious if this center drain for decently strong plunges is how the game is designed and happens to everyone, or something wrong with my game alignment? And if anyone else has decided to force every plunge to stop on the upper PF. I don’t see any harm since clearly I never use strong plunges to setup certain shots and don’t get penalized for draining over and over until I do get strength right.

#5425 3 years ago

Rougarou I have seen on same games on full plunge where the ball goes SDM. Generally speaking the plunger spring should be pretty darn weak - to the point that when its almost fully pulled out should barely make it off the upper playfield ( at least this makes plunging better and wont launched lazer balls ).

You can try experimenting moving the ball guide and ramp slightly to get the ball to contact the left rubber and deflect it a bit on full plunge. my 2 cents.

I believe on the latest home rom it gives a ball save if that happens. May be easier than adding the wire guard.

Check if the GI insert near the rail on the left side of the playfield is making contact. This shorts it out and blows the fuse. I had this problem on my machine at one point due to how close the bulb is to the metal rail.

I can't hold back any more. I need to get this off my chest.

Why do so many people ruin their Whitewaters with such awful mods? How the actual heck can anyone think that topper or those stickers look good? Why would multiple people want to do the snow mod? It was fun as a one-off thing but this is a freaking white water rafting game, who on earth is going to be doing that in the middle of a snowstorm?! But forget how it doesn't make sense theme wise, it also just completely ruins the game's color palette. Why can't people understand that blue bulbs in the GI is going to make everything look BLUE which completely ruins the original, fantastic artwork? Why do people buy those awful 3D printed lit models when they look as bad as they do and are usually completely redundant since they're usually just copying elements that are already present on the playfield art? Not eventing has to be 3D.

I don't normally go on rants like this, but I looked at all the spot target stickers that are for sale on eBay yesterday and nearly lost my mind at the fact they were selling. Then I woke up and saw someone put a yeti that looks like the Mike Wazowski with Sully's face meme on top of their game and I just couldn't any more.

Rant over. Do whatever you enjoy to your pins, but please make sure these sorts of mods are easily reversible so whoever buys games from you can return them to looking how they were intended.

Quoted from crazy79:

There *might* be a pretty high-res scan of the image in the Pinball FX3 game files since Whitewater is available, but I'm not sure how to go about extracting a texture like that. It might be worth looking into if you can't find it anywhere else though.

#5433 3 years ago
Quoted from mystman12:

The worst part is, some think their mods add value to their games and they want a premium when they sell.

I mean....everyone should love what I've done!

In reality, it devalues their game cause it's going to cost time and money to get it back to original.

Hello, I live in a tourist region where you can ski all year round and rafting is very popular on the Rhône (river) not far from the glacier.
This pinball machine is a Swaziland version.

#5435 3 years ago

So I'm rejoining the club for a 3rd and final time! Wish I never moved this beautiful game in the past (twice) but back then had to move to get something new. My 2nd WH20 I bought for $400 (best deal ever since being in this hobby!) What are nice examples going for these days?

#5436 3 years ago

And can you guys tell me the must have mods for this game? Definitely want to get the color DMD, but anything else come out in the last few years that are a must add to the pin? And LCD or LED Color DMD recommended?

#5437 3 years ago

I like the pinduo lighting on the big ramp. I also did the hot foot mod to light up big foot a little better. Missing mountain is cool. But colors are off on mine.

#5438 3 years ago
Quoted from cscmtp:

Only genuine “must have” I can think of is GIOCD if you decide to put LEDs in the GI, since the game has a TON of cool GI effects.

All the other mods, like rafts and missing mountains just serve to clutter up an already busy playfield. I’d say to avoid those.

WH2O looks absolutely amazing with ocd boards. I agree with other mods. They just end up looking out of place and awful. Really bugs me when boulder mods don't match color of stock boulders.

#5440 3 years ago

Bryan_Kelly makes a very good point. I would also add that there is only so many of these classic games in existence, and even fewer nice examples.
Again, to each is there own, but there is nothing more beautiful that a tastefully restored / modded Whitewater. I personally love the warmth of the game and the color palette / world under glass. One of the best in pinball!

Personally, I don't care what someone else does to their own game. It's theirs, not mine. It doesn't affect my game in any way. If they're happy, who cares what anyone else thinks, let them be happy with what they've done.

Sure, but if you are going to post pictures with "Look what I've just done to my machine...isn't it great?", you can't be upset when someone says "No, it isn't."

Yes, but your idea of "tastefully modded" can be quite different than others. You have some of the same mods that I have, on the other hand, I don't care for the chromed look or your "flintstones" shooter rod.

Color DMD is definitely a great mod for Whitewater! I also have upgraded speakers on mine (No Pinsound, which I'm not personally a fan of) and it sounds way better than my System 11 games with stock speakers, so I'd recommend that as well.

Some of the mods I did to mine are: color dmd, Pingraphixs pinblades. ( its an outdoor scene so I feel the pinblade should reflect that) Comet LED kit but... I added some Ice Blue bulbs to the upper playfield and whirlpool ramp. (The ice blue matches and enhances the water color on the play field) I used the translucent rubbers for a few posts in the boulder garden. I made some small boulder decals for behind the lock targets. There is too much white light coming from there that blind me. I wanted to shade those spots but it need to look like the factory decals. Metal cabinet protectors. (I have a really nice example with original cabinet decals) The translucent red shooter someone else installed and I like it better than the black factory one.

Are you referring to the one that hasn't been finished yet or the one that's currently available? The one that's not finished yet sounded pretty promising to me, but I don't like the other one at all, it just doesn't get all lot of the sound right IMO. Warren Davis re-doing the callouts is awesome though, I'll give it that. Ultimately though I'm a *huge* fan of FM synth so I'm extremely happy with the vanilla OST!

You are correct, kind of...no where did I say one is better than the other. Nor did I ask your opinion... but I was expecting a few criticisms people love to offer that in truck loads.

FYI bro it’s not a flinstones shooter rod, it’s a hand rolled wad of gum custom painted... and that stuff you call “chromed” are actually recycled trash cans pressed, lazer cut and polished, I am all about resourcefulness in my restores.
