My kickback seems to make occasional strange hang-ups/misfires too (despite installing the correct coil strength, a new sleeve, and new bell armature)...thought it was just my game.

It's better after doing the above, but it didn't cure the problem.

Stainless ball guide as suggested by someone else seems to be at the standard height...so that's obviously not it.

Guess the only obvious thing remaining is to go with Markmon's suggestion of simply adjusting the microswitch angle for a later fire.

Makes sense.

OK finally made the adjustment on mine and now it's working perfectly.

Prior to this adjustment, the coil would periodically fire several times (about three or so) on occasion, and the ball would then sometimes drain.

Inspected the switch to perform the aforementioned tweak to make it fire "later"...and concluded on my particular switch, this made no sense.

In fact, I adjusted my switch for the earliest possible fire instead...and it's now (seemingly) working perfectly.

Did this by moving the blade to the rear nubs from the inner, and by tilting the switch body up all the way toward the PF.

Guess this just goes to show that sometimes when working on pins: YMMV.

AKA: inspect & adjust for your particular physical configuration--IE., obviously not all blades are at the exact same angle after all these years; slight mounting location differences on the PF, etc.
