I'm looking at a RCT that was resetting for a friend.

I've got 5.06V, so that seems fine (I can't reproduce the issues), however, the 5V pot is missing and was replaced by a resistor!

Is this a common repair to boost the 5V or did someone just not have a replacement pot on hand? I assume I should put this back in. Anyone know what size it should be?

Manual says 50 ohm Pot. Anyone have more info on that? R116, part 121-5039-00

Quoted from ChrisHibler:

If the voltage is correct I'd leave the resistor. It ain't broke....
I find the power header on the CPU/Sound board often burned. I'd replace both sides of that to start.

Thanks. That connector has seen better days, but it isn't burnt. I'll replace them.

Quoted from G-P-E:

The removal of the trimmer and installing a resistor - first thing it reminded me of was "Muntzing".

But, for a 5V adjust -- probably better off removing the possibility of a user throwing the 5V out of whack.

That's a great article. Makes me think of the Ni-wumpf Sys1 CPU that looks like there's no way it could do what the original did.
