Someone touched up the spot in the photo below, probably a long time ago because the design is different??? Maybe the touch up was done before the internet became a big thing, and was difficult to find photos of playfields. But the color matching looked good whoever did it. I removed the mylar and repainted it.

Clear coated and waiting to cure some before wet sanding. Dripped a lot of clear onto the mini playfield to level the severe valleys:

Glitter added to the visible water areas of the playfield. There are two different color tones in the water, so I used two different glitters that closely matched the two playfield colors:

Do you mind giving details as to what stage and how you place the glitter?

I use only extra fine or ultra fine glitter, and mix it with Aleene's Clear Gel Tacky Glue. This glue dries very clear and is unnoticeable under a clear coat. You can play with the glitter:glue ratio depending on how much glitter you want on the surface, and you'll know when you added too much glitter to the glue as it'll lose its viscosity. The glue also dissolves easily with water if you mess up in an area.

I use a toothpick to apply the glue/glitter mixture onto the playfield, and drag and dab over the meticulous areas. The glitter will look a little hazy and irregularly shaped and underwhelming when first applied. Afterwards, I lightly use steel wool over the glittered areas and then clear coat the entire playfield with 2 cans of Spraymax 2K, going heavy in the areas with glitter. The glitter will really pop and glisten once the clear coat is applied. When wet sanding that clear coat, once you begin to see a few flakes of glitter on your sandpaper thats when you know when to stop sanding the glittered areas.

I then used 2 additional cans of Spraymax for the entire playfield, spraying heavy into the glittered areas. I just now finished wetsanding again, and now enough clear is built up above the glittered areas where it is a perfectly smooth surface.
