    Quoted from Lermods:

Just tried to book at Wyndham garden, they have no promotional rate for the show and want $143/ night plus tax. Booked at days inn instead for $99 all in. Prefer to stay at Wyndham so if someone has a code or knows the promotional rate, please share it. Thx

I got the show rate by following the directions on the York Show's web site:

"The hotel for this year's show is the Wyndham Garden 2000 Loucks Road York PA 17408 (717)846-9500 You must call the hotel directly to get the special rate of $87 per night. You must also mention the White Rose Gameroom show to get the special rate."

The operator even commented that without the "White Rose Gameroom" block the rate would have been $169, so your quote of $143 sounds like their regular market rate. Of course, three times the operator offered me additional products - "can I transfer you to Wyndham vacations at the end of the call?" ... "Are you interested in the Wyndham rewards credit card?" ... "Would you like to find out how to get $50 back?".... Sometimes it is just easier to book on a web site!

    Rob,

You making York now ? I chatted with you in Sturbridge.

    DQ

High enough confidence to book a room. It does fall on my anniversary this year... but I've got a preliminary OK from the other celebrant.

Mailed in the registration for a inside vendor space today. Will fill the 10 x 10 space to the max. Counting down for set up day!

I mailed my reservation in as well. Is it just me or does there seems to be quite a bit of buzz about the show this year?

Agree - York is the place to be this October! Presently sitting in Denver’s Airport waiting out a 4 hour delay and wishing there was just ONE pinball here. I’m considering bringing my Party Zone whose persistent resets incubated my daughterboard idea. I also will have my new 2018 edition of the daughterboard in stock.

    Gonna be a great show!

Anyone know much about the Heritage Rail Trail? Looks to me like the North trailhead is only a few blocks from the fairgrounds. The show kind of consumes all the daylight hours on Friday but I'm considering bringing a bike and giving it a try Saturday after the show.

    Here's a link to the trail's web site: https://www.yorkcountytrails.org/trails/heritage-rail-trail-county-park/

    @jodyg , @too-many-pins , @skidave ,

I appreciate the replies. I just checked sunset time for 12 October - it's at 6:30 PM, so I don't think my plan for an after-show ride can realistically happen. I do have lights for my commute here in DC area, but the point would be to see the scenery; not just log miles. Too bad, rather than just doubling back, I was thinking of riding one way, locking the bike, taking an uber back to the beginning and then driving to pick up the bike. Just as well, doesn't it always rain for the York show anyway?

This is my favorite show, and I'm planning to bring a machine for the first time this year, a "300". Looking forward to it, even the drive from Michigan!

too bad Rich can't set you up with free highway tolls for bringing a game!

    Quoted from too-many-pins:

Now the next step is to get my trailer empty from working in at my son's place over the Summer then I can decide what to load and how much space I'll need. Rich - if you happen to read this I'll be contacting you sometime in the next week or two checking in to see what spaces you still have. At this point I don't know if I'll need electric (or not) so I want to hold off until I figure out my load before renting spaces.

How well are the roads maintained between your place and York? How "over the top" are the tolls - especially pulling a trailer?

    Quoted from darcangeloel:

Would anyone have a back to the future pinball they would like to bring to the show and sell me and or trade also I'm looking for a high speed project.

I think there was a high speed project linked in the "project pin" thread a day or two ago. It was in Lancaster, PA. I happen to have the link because I mailed it to a friend who lives in that area, but it seems to be deleted now... lancaster.craigslist.org link Not surprised it's gone as I think the price was in the $350 range (but the playfield was ver rough).

    Quoted from fatality83:

Wonder if that was one of the ones that sold at that quarryville auction a few weeks back. Probably realized the game was too far gone to try and bring back. It sold for $400 not including tax and auction fees and such so if it was the same one, the auction buyer lost a little money on it. Its #16 on this list https://paauctioncenter.hibid.com/catalog/141659/9-8-2018-pinball--arcade-and-video-machine-collection/?

I don't think it's the same one. When I commented on the "very rough" playfield, I was referring to paint loss - the one in the auction photos looks to me like the best part may have been the playfield.

rmarket , thanks for the wake-up call re: three weeks away. Time to kick preparations for the booth into high gear!

I completed my DIY Playfield Protector for my Alien Poker and I'm bringing the game up to York. Anyone who wants details on my effort can check it out here (or ask me about it at the show): https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/i-made-a-playfield-protector-self-evaulation#post-4623128

    Quoted from too-many-pins:

What the heck is it with the York Show & rain? 100% chance of rain on Thursday (set up day) again this year. I don't remember a year without rain the weekend of the show! At least Friday & Saturday look decent at this point but there is nothing more fun than moving a bunch of machines into a show in the rain.

Doesn't help others much but I don't set up until Friday morning. I've gotta leave DC pretty early to get there in time for the 8:00 to 10:00 setup window but it's always worked out pretty well for me. Plus, you really shouldn't put too much faith in long range weather forecasting. Mostly I bike to work and I hold off on the bike/drive decision until the morning of because relying on the night before would cause me to "watch some strikes" and "swing at some balls".

Will there be any games in the freeplay area with a playfield protector?

I am considering one for my Flash, and would like to play a game that has one installed.

I'm planning to bring my Alien Poker - it has the protector I made myself in it. Reference here: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/i-made-a-playfield-protector-self-evaulation

    Quoted from Chalkey:

Is the Wyndham the best hotel to stay at? I just tried calling them and they're sold out of the room rate and I could barely hear the guy and it had like a 5 second delay.

I haven't found a hotel I like in York so I just stay at the Wyndham.

    Quoted from skater:

Hey everyone. Your friendly show statistician here! We had 181 games in free play as of about noon today (not counting vendor games), and I'm pretty sure at least two more came in the door after I finished.

I know some left tonight, but we still have a pretty good selection, plus I'm sure mor will come in tomorrow morning. Thanks for helping this be a successful show!

There was an empty vendor spot next to me that got used as an overflow for games that came in because the free play lineup was completely packed. I walked through before leaving this evening and there are now some open spots scattered, but not a ton. If you bring a game and they suggest that they might be full, ask to be placed in the empty vendor spot next to KAHR.US Circuits. It has a dedicated power drop; hopefully this info lets a couple extras get in the door tomorrow!
