Traffic question. The last few years I left the show on Friday during rush hour and sat for over an hour +. I travel 83N to Rt 322 West to State College. Do any of you Harrisburg locals know if I'd be better off taking the PA turnpike off 83 N head west and the exit to Rt 15 thru Camp Hill? Then follow the west bank to Duncannon?

#865 4 years ago

Can't wait for the show to start. I know of one game that I'll be playing alot, Bay Watch. Plus I've seen two I want to buy and a cocktail table. Will there be a Spooky Alice Cooper, hope so.

That sounds like a good plan, maybe others closer to Harrisburg can give you a better route. Why not get some dinner locally and not worry about it. Other people mentioned Lyndon Diner. We love that place. The pot roast dinner is one of the best meals I've ever had.

#867 4 years ago

Unfortunately, it probably won't save you much time. Camp Hill is a mess traffic wise.

Thanks for the heads up. Last year Penn State had a home football game which increased traffic. At least they're away this weekend at Iowa. Worst part it seems I-83 is always under construction before I-81.

Quoted from cmack750:

- Black Hole upper playfield.
For someone restoring a black hole, there is a treasure trove of playfield parts here.
The bad: Someone drilled an insert sized hole in it about an inch above the "Shoot Again" insert and the wiring harness has been cut in most places. But with a little wood putty and a water-slide decal/mylar over that spot, this would qualify as a players quality playfield. Otherwise, a wall hanger. The re-entry plastic has a crack in it (doesn't extend to an edge). Some yellowing of clear plastics, but otherwise in decent shape.
The good: Playfield is fully populated, top AND bottom with the exception of 2 pop-bumper caps and 1 flipper bat (flipper assembly is present). All plastics, coils, assemblies, drop targets, etc are there. Window for Lower Playfield is pretty good with minimal scratches
Apron also present as well as the ball count display board in the apron (untested).

Last chance for the fully populated Black Hole Upper Playfield. $250. My OCD Nature forced me to take the plastics off and clean them, along with a cursory cleaning of the playfield, but I can get it all back together in a heartbeat if anyone wants it. Rubbers are shot but everything else looks to be in very nice shape.

Pictures attached. If you want this, PM me by 6:30am and I can get it into the SUV to bring along.

....and the very last thing I can bring:

I have the majority of a repro set of BSD Plastics. Still has the plastic protecting the front, and the white paper protecting the back on each piece. None are bent or broken. This was a full set, but I agreed to sell off a few pieces that a fellow pinsider needed, so I'm offering up the rest of the set (20 pieces, including the proto slings). Will sell all 20 together, or willing to break it up and sell only pieces people may need. Picture of the pieces I still have are attached. PM me if interested in the set or any specific pieces.....I'll bring the set along just in case.

What Rich said. Camp Hill is a mess also. Rt 11/15 north through Duncannon will also be packed. Driving from York to Harrisburg during rush hour is always bad, bad, bad. And yes 83 right before 81 split is under construction for the widening project for the next 10 years. If Penn state has a home game every road heading north is packed. The only thing I do is hit the turnpike then get off at the next exit (Harrisburg exit) but you're still hitting traffic when you get back on 83. but it saves you from driving through the city exits. This was my daily drive for 14 years. It sucks.

As Rich stated, it won't save you much time. However, I would take 83N to "the split" in New Cumberland, and go to 581 Camp Hill (left lane) instead of continuing on 83N to Harrisburg (2 right lanes). You will sit a lot less on 581, provided that there are no accidents. Take 581 the whole way to 81N. At that point 11/15N or 22/322W is a toss up. Both will take about the same amount of time to get you above Duncannon.

When do people usually start packing their games up to leave on Sat? If I can't get there til 11 is it worth a long drive?

No. Games will leave today around 4.

Quoted from Madmax541:

What time does 83 & 81 start getting bogged down with traffic?

At night, it's hit or miss going into Harrisburg on 83 or 81 from about 2PM to 6PM. Fridays may be a little earlier.

#887 4 years ago

Anyone going past mount rose exit on 183 just keep in mind they are still doing construction there. Thats a long story, they were supposed to be done a long time ago but they are dragging that project out.

I will be there at 10:00 and probably be there till close. I will be wearing last years Allentown shirt with a samsung galaxy watch. If you recognize me say hello. Always like to meet pinsiders and i'm friendly.

#888 4 years ago

We're spoiled living 20 minutes away from the show, so we are home now for a lunch break. We arrived about ten minutes before doors opened, not too long of a line by any stretch. Once doors opened, waited about 5 minutes to get in. The workers at the door are fast and friendly.
So far for a Friday morning, the attendance is brisk, but not overcrowded. Wait times for games in free play is one deep. Of course, at the new games you will have to wait longer.
Good deals to be had, especially on EMs. There is a handful of flea market vendors. It was so nice meeting Skip and purchasing a williams back door from him. He's so pleasant to talk with!
Loving the feel of the York Show, weather is great and the people are as well!
