Quoted from sbmania:The following comments in no way reflect on the show promoters making a tough decision based on difficult economic realities. I am sorry they had to make the decision they did based on current events and peoples' perceptions. But, having said that...
This is a damn shame! So many people are so afraid and why? How many people actually personally know someone who died from covid? How many actually personally know someone who even got it? Everyone dutifully running here and there with their government approved mask. Why? Have we gotten so fearful as a people that we are afraid to shake our friends' hands? Afraid to hang out together? I don't want to minimize that some people have gotten sick from this and some have actually died. But people sadly die every day from kidney disease, cancer, car accidents, alcoholism. Is it possible we are letting the government scare us half to death all out of proportion to the actual event? I just think it is sad what we have become. Oh well. I guess there's always next year...assuming the authorities let us.
I work in hospital IT, and directly work with integration of venitalors to medical records. I see the real world impact everyday. This is a serious issue and will only get worse if people think it is ok not wear masks or practice safe distancing. The mask is not to keep you safe, it is to keep others safe from you. The examples you are using of "people sadly die every day from kidney disease, cancer, car accidents, alcoholism" is not a valid argument. None of these things are highly contageous, and your ignorance or apethy of them can't kill others.
Now, imagine you wake up tomorrow morning and everyone in your city (Pottstown) is dead except for you. Now multiple that by 8, that is how many people in the U.S. have already died from COVID-19. I am sure you won't take any of these posts serious, and will continue to do what you are doing. I just hope no one close to you will be affected, but that may be the only way you will start taking it serious.
With all that said. I am just like everyone else, and would love to go to a pinball event. Maybe a group of people can find a location and have an outdoor flee market for a day. I am sure there is an open farmers market with a covering that can be rented out.
