I would check the power too. If the -12 volts is low or failing under load it can cause funny stuff. Does not hurt to re do the power supply caps. C9 in particular as it filters the -12v. Seen lots turning bad if they have not been changed since being manufactured.
Also reseat the ribbon cable. Many troubles stem from that cable.
