Just got a new whirlwind and have a couple of questions. I apologize in advance if these have already been answered.

1. Are the regular bulbs under the flashers in the back panel supposed to be part of the GI? I can't get any of them to light up.

2. The spinner will move over to the right and hit the rail which causes it to stop. Is this a known issue?

3. Are spinner decals regularly available?

4.Three bulbs in the head blink occasionally (looks like an effect). When I put an LED in it stays solid. Are they supposed to occasionally blink?

Thanks!

Having some trouble with the compass and million plus flashers. They both don’t work and the wires and connections in the back box look good. I’m not sure what to look for. Could anyone help?

I noticed that there seem to be two versions of the FL11630 coil, one with two and one with three solder points/contacts. Is it required to have the one with 3 for whirlwind?

Could anyone post a picture of how their lower left flipper is wired? It would be greatly appreciated.

Absolutely, thank you.

My diverter keeps raising itself until it’s a little above the ramp every couple of games. Is there a fix for this?

#4817 1 year ago
Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:

Going from memory here, but if you lift the playfield and shove that diverter back in it should be going into a little metal piece attached to a spring by the coil. There is a very small screw head you can tighten down with an allen wrench in there. Try that.

This worked great, thank you!

Sorry for all the questions. I noticed the spinning discs on my playfield are much slower than they should be judging by other machines I’ve played and seen. Can anything be done to speed them up?

#4820 1 year ago
Quoted from John_In_WI:

Have you checked the settings? I believe there's one that deals with how the spinning disks work.

I have, but even on fast mode they still seem pretty slow. Watching gameplay videos, it seems like when they pulse they move pretty fast. Mine barely move at all some times.

#4822 1 year ago
Quoted from zene10:

Have you checked the set screw on each disc? If the set screw has backed out the disc will appear to spin slow.

Yes, looking under the playfield it seems that the motor simply isn’t strong enough. Wheels move smoothly. When tightening the middle wheel screw it seems to just keep turning without tightening anything.

#4823 1 year ago

Now it seems the wheels barely spin at all. Could the motor need replaced?

Quoted from eman4277:

Theres a super tiny hex screw that connects to the wheel assembly, that was my issue. I've had to tighten twice when my spinners start getting weak

This is what the problem was! Thanks for your advice.

A switch row randomly stopped working on my Whirlwind. In the manual it says the transistor running it is Q48. I can’t seem to find that transistor on any of the boards.

Could anyone help?

#4896 1 year ago

I must be missing something. I can’t find Q48 anywhere on the list.

I just found two broken/disconnected wires on the opto board for the upper drop target. Hopefully this is the cause of the issue. Could anyone confirm where these should go?

Quoted from Jmckune:

It’s line 10 on that list, but if you had a bad transistor, an entire row or column would be out, not just one switch.

Wow not sure how I missed that, thanks. It is an entire column, but I just found two disconnected wires on one of the switches and am hoping this is the issue.

Quoted from GRUMPY:

I think you may have found your issue.

Quoted from DanMarino:

It looks like you found it. The green and yellow stripe wire should connect to the other Green/yellow wire. Same with the Gray with yellow stripe wires.

This was it! Thanks!!
