Just a quick refresh. Picked up another whirlwind today that had the 'W' sticker on top of the Cubs hat the boy is wearing.

Easy to remove the sticker so do it if you have that decal installed.

Quoted from Hougie:

I seriously had the game of my life on WW this morning. This is all glass on, three ball, factory settings. Mega Door bonus three times. I think four multiballs. Tolls maxed during ball 1. Every extra ball..I think, I lost count.
Best part is I'm temp trading it to a friend tomorrow. It's like the game is begging me to keep her around. Think it's a sign? Lol

That is an impressive score 75MM!!

I agree that Whirlwind is one of the few machines that I dont want to give up either.

I need to install spinner decals on our whirlwind. Specifically the one in the upper right orbit. They are a holographic image. Can anyone recommend where and what to buy?

Does anyone in this club have a spare NOS or lightly used 'W' flipper bat? One of my originals broke. New ones are less yellow and more orange colored

*edit.. I see that Marco sells them so I will go that route.

I have a question About how best to set up a Whirlwind for a group of really good tournament players. Aside from extra hard game settings (disc speed, compass difficulty, multi ball diffiiculty), do you think that the center post should be removed?

I am concerned that the center post is so critical for balls falling out of the upper jet bumpers and other areas, that removal of the post will make the machine virtually unplayable given its original design. It seems to me that it takes a bit of skill to know when to trust the post versus when not to.

Thanks!

That diode looks to me to be installed incorrectly.

Quoted from plankalkul:

Greetings all! I will have a "restoration post" shortly on the filthy, disgusting, mylar peeling planked inserts raised and lowered and barely working project I'm wrapping up. But first...
Has anyone upgraded their speakers to something commonly available recently? I am looking for the backbox speakers, and before I get sucked into hours of research, has anyone found anything that isn't $150+ pinsound, but will go (mostly) plug and play with WW? I'm not opposed to the work, but when I started down these threads, there are just too many options and I'm short on time.
I'm looking for actual product SKUs you've bought that'll work. "Hey Dumbass, buy this and this and this" appreciated!

I went with these for the small right side one and the cabinet speaker. At this point I still have the left side speaker panel one in place. If I was to match the right side I would buy a Boss BRS46. Certainly a good bang for the buck option.

Have (m)any of you installed a cpr backglass? If so, can you suggest a good backbox led setup to better light it up?

Is the plunger tip square with the ball? The housing can be adjusted by loosening the three screws inside.

If yes to above... is there a divot that keeps the ball from resting against the plunger tip? Are the metal tabs on the shooter lane gauge set properly? They might need to be slightly bent towards the front of the machine.

A picture of the ball in the shooter lane that also shows the plunger tip might yield additional feedback.

Is natural white a good option or are specific colors in certain areas preferable?

So, are you still averse to installing the interconnect from your Taxi?

Anyways, does anyone know the part number for the right orbit spinner? Is this it? https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/A-11915

It’s part #B-13339 and the one you referenced is a little different. Try pinball resource or Action Pinball.
