Quoted from CafeOne:

i think the manual states that it should make the orbit as well. I am a proud Whirlwind owner myself, and it will never leave the collection. My new playfield arrives Thursday! Y'all come back now ya'hear!

I like the orange around the coin door, really makes it pop.

I am working on putting some LED strips in front of the cloud pointing up and behind the backbox all tied into the lightning bolt flashers to make the game really light up when the bolt fires.

#43 10 years ago

Oh and last year I took my WW to expo and KOI went and set every HS on it. I have been playing allot to try and knock him off but he still holds GC. I was with in a million a few time and man is that irking me. But kudos to KOI for doing it. It has given me a goal.

I hate the fact that the blinkers in the back box flash with the GI. When you have LEDs for flashers it takes a minuet for them to get out of sync and look like regular blinkers.

Quoted from Matt_Rasmussen:

Just did LED's in my flashers and now the flippers activate the flashers briefly when flipped. Is this causes by a temporary short somewhere, or...
Tia

Mine does the same thing. Its a dim flash every time you flip? I am guessing it's being caused by eddy currents. Normal bulbs will do nothing but LEDs are so efficient that it causes them to light up. I could be completely wrong, but that's my guess.

I Don't know if this helps cause I am not at home and cant look, but try taking out the 2 screws that hold that rear cloud plastic with the flashers in it. That might give you the access to the ramp.

One coil raises the ramp and the other releases the catch to let it fall back down. They should only pop once when going either direction. And only one of them should pop.

Quoted from mrgone:

I will lock a ball. the next ball pops into the shooter lane. it plays fine. sometimes during game play the ball in the lock will randomly eject back into play. when one ball drains the game keeps playing and the lock light. I can re lock a ball and normal game play resumes.

Last year at expo I noticed mine doing the same thing. I haven't done anything to it yet to fix it but I suspected the switches too. Now that I think about it they do all have crimp connectors on them. I bought 3 new switches any way. Guess Ill just swap them out and solder the wires on.

I plan on putting 2 LED strips in front of the cloud and 1 behind it and tie them to the 3 flashers that are the lightning bolt above the playfield in the back. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

There are 2 switches in that subway. One you pass when going into the right cellar and one for when that ball is at the kickout. It could be the first switch is flakey.

Quoted from Bruincdc:

It doesn't register when you enter the Left or Right Side, just plays the sound as if you hadn't activating the Celler yet.

So you can hit it in to either left or right and it never kicks it back out and just stays in there or does it kick it out like it went in the left even if it went in the right? if its the latter then the switch for the right is not working. put the machine into switch edge and activate one of the 2 switches... it should make a beep. if you are activating and its not making the beep then you have a bad switch or wiring.

Sadly since getting my bowler I had to move my machine over to the short end of the room and had to remove the cloud to make it fit. Its just not the same with out the fan.

I was on the original run and still haven't gotten an email. I even signed up again for the second run... will see.

Mine showed up last week and I did not notice any of the imperfections in the clear.

I cant tell... but I had the set screw on the motor gear come loose and it made them spin slow kinda like that... but it got worse over time. Get some lube if you can on all 3 disc bearings, that helped speed mine up. And as it has been said check the setting for the speed.

Yeah that 3 way should have a million point bonus attached to it. I think I can count on my hands the number of times I have done it.

Were they dim and flickery? If so its probably the resistors.

2 switches down there. One is at the eject side and the other is on the cellar side. sounds like the cellar side switch is not working. Look for broken wires. If you know how go into switch edge test and activate that switch by hand and see if it registers.

#1910 6 years ago

Some times the 2 flaps of metal are bent out causing the same problem. I know I had 2 machines that I had to bend them back to 90 cause they were forward causing weak plunges.

#2127 6 years ago

I had a similar problem with locked balls releasing when they were not supposed to. I removed the slide off connectors and soldered wires directly to switches and now its fine.

Are you still using the push on spade lugs that were original? I cut them off and soldered mine in and that cured that issue.

Worst that happens is you will be back in this thread asking where something goes.

They should be on all the time with the GI then they come on late some times for certain lighting effects.

You guys are all idiots for not using nickel halide lamps and fiber-optics.

Ill add a vote for adjustable 3 way score. 3 mill seems to be a good start. And also a timed ball save. I cant think of much else to add.

On my machine you can shoot either cellar door to restart multiball. Is this normal? Is there a setting so that only the right one will restart it?

The disc are loud because if i remember right the teeth are part of the "disc" an that is a large hollow plastic piece and acts like a resonator. You could take it apart and try to add some rubber or something under and inside the disc to deaden the sound of the plastic resonating.

Quoted from BenB:

Just recently added Led flashers to my topper and wired then in using Todd Tucky from TNT’s tip. Skip to 17 minute mark for his instructions.

I had mine at expo and what I did was put LED strip in the cloud, back of the back box and under the cabinet. I tied them into the lighting bolt flashers so that it flashes top to back to bottom.
