About to join the club tomorrow, absolutely stoked!
Hows the head fold down on these? Just a latch on the back? Any bolts? As noted on the original post, do you actually need to disconnect the fan and disks?

Got the part number right from the manual!
It’s like the threads need to run further up the post... the threadless part bottoms out at the T-Nut.
Looks like we’re goin no post :/
Quoted from pencilneck:Are you sure that is the correct part? Look at the base, hex on there. Same part on my ES and DE Simpsons.

Hmm, that looks correct... I’m gonna look for that. Thanks!
Can someone tell me what type of resistor this is?
board (resized).jpg
Trying to get my new to me WW up and running 100% when I noticed that this board was disconnected, and this resistor is missing. Can't find it on Marco by part number so going to track it down somewhere else. Not sure if there's a special name for it though?
Thanks for the lead, so when I search on Mouser.ca I have a ton of options: https://www.mouser.ca/c/passive-components/resistors/?power+rating=5+W&resistance=680+Ohms&termination+style=Axial&tolerance=5+%25
What's the most appropriate option for this board?
I have replacement spinner decals coming in from Marco, but ive read they’re not that great and dont catch the ball that well…
Has anyone ever masked off their playfields and sprayed a silicone grip on them? Or sprayed them before installation?
Just got my whitlwind up and running! Well, for the most part.
Is the drop target bank supposed to reset after the 3rd target goes down? Or does it reset at the beginning of a new ball?
Quoted from pencilneck:Both. Resets when all go down and then will also reset for the next ball for the skill shot.
Any initial thoughts what to look for when I get in there?
The 3 bank resets at the end of each ball, so perhaps it’s something just mechanical?
I guess Im not sure how these work… What tells the game to reset when the 3rd target goes down.
Quoted from zacaj:Any idea when they switched?
Wondering too... I have a set sitting in my spare parts tote. I didn't install them because I read they're not grippy, and my old nasty lookin' ones still whip the ball all over!
Does the sub work well with this game? Thought it would be too old school to have any bass in the music!?
You using an app?
Either way, maybe one side of the level is resting on a raised insert and getting a bad reading. I wouldn't expect a whole playfield to wootang that hard.
Quoted from pencilneck:For anyone dealing with the left flipper ball hop, I've got 3 more of these offset bushings left. Once these 3 are gone, I doubt I'll make more since this is a VERY low demand product.

I got the Cliffy oversized guide and and still had the ball hop issue. The offset bushing has been a solid fix for my Whirlwind. You do have to drill out the ball guide:

$15 shipped to any address in the lower 48 states. Paypal payment, just send me a private message if you want to purchase one.
For the handful of you who purchased one... I ain't never heard back from a single one of ya'll. The lack of death threats and refund demands has me thinking the ball hop issue was resolved and you were happy with your $15 purchase. Feedback, good or bad, is appreciated.
I bought the Cliffy guide that was supposed to fix the hop and no luck. I lined it up with my stock guide and it was identical!
Soon after, I picked up one of these offset bushings and problem solved!
Super easy to drill out and install was perfect and now hitting the ramp or loop on the fly is way more predictable. Thank you!
Where'd you mount the strip and tie into?
Mines all LED now, but still sooo dark up top. Hardly see the loop comin’ for jackpots.
How well do they work?
I ordered some, then read they don’t grip as well so I’m still spinnin’ the old faded ones. Which work really well still but look terrible.
Quoted from mark532011:I've had my replacements for a year now and have never had any trouble or lifting. I peeled up the old ones and stuck the new ones down, didn't even clean it off
No, I heard they don't grip the balls as well!

(Those estate sale peeps were sure dumb for letting that go for $100. Geez! Way to go!)
Not an estate sale, but I found my whirlwind from a drunk guy at the bar. He said he wanted $1,200. I went the next day to see if it was even actually whirlwind, gave it a look over and asked how much again? Him looking it over and sober was like, how about $900. I said, how about $1k.
Loaded up and DASHED. Win win though right?
