Thanks for the tip, DA. I checked with Marco to see if they were getting any--they said none on the horizon. Wonder where PPS found these?

Finally, after whiffing too many times to count, I hit the three-way combo. If that isn't in the top ten hardest combos of all time, I'd hate to see the other ones ahead of it.
Quoted from tylery85:billy16 I usually hit it on accident because by the time you go up the ramp the ball is soaring, but it's a beautiful shot to land. I fucking love WW
Man, I'm still waiting for that lucky combo shot--haven't been able to do it. Only time I hit it I was trying to make the ramp shot for the trifecta.
After reading about painting the lighting board, then finding another tip using white posterboard, I thought--wow, that sounds a lot easier and less messy. So I went looking for the white posterboard I knew I had laying around. Wife had thrown it out, along with all my other colored cardboard (of course). I looked around to see what was left and found a few sheets of semi-glossy photo paper. Even better! I cut the photo paper to fit the board, cut around all the light and screw holes and used clear tacky dots to glue it onto the pcb board. Looks great (if I do say so myself) and was easy! It does make the lightning board look better being white, great tip.
I almost took one but did not have a camera handy. It really is self explanatory once you take the lightning plastic off the pcb board. Unscrew the two ends of the plastic and pop the assembly off the back off the game (under the speaker panel). Pop off the two connectors and it is off. Unscrew the plastic, take out the bulb holders and cover the green pcb board with something white--really makes a noticeable difference.
Thanks for the photos! Looks like the previous owner figured this trick out as my tension band is pointing out. The breeze must really be anemic with the fan blade mounted "properly".
Quoted from codered9394:Can anyone help me with the blinking bulb locations...
Check page 2 or 3 in this thread for an illustration.
Quoted from herg:I received the notification on Tuesday, and I sent my request on 2/25/2016. I would think it just takes a while to notify everyone on the last.
Unfortunately, I jumped the gun and ordered plastics from PPS a couple weeks ago, so I couldn't take advantage of the package deal.
As far as I can tell PPS is the only place that still has WW plastics--and I wonder where they got them.
Quoted from Skypilot:They were just rerun
By CPR? Interesting that they don't have any--or at least they don't list them on their site.
Quoted from herg:http://www.classicplayfields.com/whirlwind.html
I could have gotten the plastics with the playfield and saved $49 over buying them separate the way I did.
No wonder I couldn't find it. That is also a better plastics set than the one PPS is selling--theirs only comes with one set of slingshot plastics if I'm not mistaken.
I think they are on vacation until later in the month. No shipping during their time off--if I read the blurb on their website correctly.
Finally hit the three-way combo for only the second time ever tonite. That is one tough set of shots, always exciting to actually hit it.
The skill shot to the drops is so dangerous lately I've been doing the loop to the ramp shot and hope to hit that.
Quoted from northerndude:My bad, I guess I should have put those cliffys on the day I got the pin.
I don't think this is your fault at all. Poor CC job.
Quoted from jmountjoy111:Not really. I preferred whirlwind to tz. I may be alone on that but I didn’t care for Twilight Zone after owning it. It has the worst flow ever. Just my humble opinion. Whirlwind is basically perfect.
I also think WW is a better game than TZ--don't miss it at all.
That is good to know--did you start small and then to size, or just drill the correct hole straight away?
One of my spinning disk pads is coming loose at the edge. Best way to tack this back down (and still be able to remove it without too much effort when it wears out)?
If the plunge is going all the way up the ramp, someone put a really strong spring on the plunger, you'll want to correct that as well.
My guess is someone went out of their way to make adjustments under the mistaken idea that the plunge was supposed to go up the ramp. Your lane guide has to be way off, I'd think. If the end of the ramp is as far out as it can go, check to make sure there is not a hump in the middle of the guide that is kicking the ball over. Make sure the plunged ball is not hitting the last post rubber, which will also kick it towards the ramp.
,
That three-way combo is a bitch--getting two is hard enough. Paying off the toll is cool!--I don't think Ive ever come all that close to doing it.
I'm getting more bricks than seem fair out of the cellar and also the saucer under the lift ramp. Maybe the Cliffy is kicking up the ball a little to the cellar? Any tips or tricks for keeping the brick-outs to a minimum?
Quoted from northerndude:That’s why I have a speaker upgrade heading into mine to get that great depth for the “Feel the power!!!” & “WhirlWind” call outs. Going to sound unreal!!
Keep us posted about that, be interesting to see how much improvement there is.
Quoted from scampcamp:For those that bought a CPR Whirlwind mirrored backglass... what are your thoughts? Is it worth the $$?
Well...it is a mixed bag. A lot of sharpness is lost and some complain about over saturated colors. Bb99 is right on about the lack of mirror when it is lit. The plus side is the mirror effect is very cool without any lighting, and after you get used to the lack of sharpness/clarity the real glass does look cool when lit--it is just different. Sometimes you can get a nice second on ebay, which in my opinion is worth the money. Brand new--I'm not sure that it is.
Quoted from Initiative:fair warning on LED flashers in WW - out of all of my games, this one is the most seizure-inducing when the game goes nuts - especially when cellar MB starts.
Good point, I took my led flashers out and replaced them with incandescents--to me they just look/work better in this particular pin.
Anyone have a backyard replacement fix for the correct ramp lift bolt? Mine broke and it costs more to ship the correct bolt than it does to buy it. Asked Marco if they would send one in an envelope and they declined. Thanks.
Quoted from Jeffreyjonesbsme:I have one I bought from Marco...but when it arrived, the "bolt" part was thicker than the original.
I ended up not trying it and used my original instead.
I'll sell it to you...but like I said, it's untested.
Thanks, I put together a Marco order yesterday and also bought a bunch of random stuff--hopefully the lift bolt will fit my lift arm--we'll see.

The lift bolt I just received from Marco worked perfectly.
