Quoted from truemagoo102:I've had the same issue here- and even with a Cliffy set it's still hoppin'. I'd definitely be interested in one if you want to make some extras.
Yep, same. Enhanced guide definitely helped but there's still a bit of hop

You could also try the "low bounce" flipper rubber from Titan. They are 1mm thinner, so they can help as well. Otherwise, dohickey away! Its definitely an interesting idea to solve the issue.
Quoted from pencilneck:ballhop
Sorry, what issue is this?
I have Cliffy frames AND zero ball hop on ANY of my Williams games.

Same here, thats why I mentioned them. They solved it on all my games as well.
Quoted from pencilneck:Hopefully this fixed the stupid left lane ballhop... original playfield did, CRP playfield does it as well... so I've come up with this dohicky to fix the issue.
Your dohicky is called an eccentric cam
Quoted from BrewNinja:You could just buy the enhanced ball guide from Cliffy. Will fix you right up and no dohickey needed. I put them on all my games, they work amazing.
The Cliffy guides didn't help at all. They look to be the same footprint as what I took out. Seems others have reported the same thing. The other cliffy bits I got fit like a champ and I'll be ordering some more from him... but these WW inlane guides were a bust.
My next set is to make some out of HDPE plastic. If you would be in purchasing one, please send me a private message. Right now I'm thinking $15-ish shipped. Kind of looking to see how much interest there is to have an idea of how many I might need to make.
Regards.

Are you sure you bought the enhanced version? He sells both the original and enhanced. The enhanced is slightly wider.

Looked at the Paypal payment.... "Whirlwind 2pc enhanced flipper frames" is what I purchased. According to Mr Mitutoyo the guides are right at 0.9980" wide, so we'll call it 1 inch.

I bought the enhanced set as well, and it helped, but I still have some hop occasionally.

It seems to work pretty good:

This is a first draft as it were, I'll most likely go back and make another one out of black plastic. During game play you can't see it and as it is, it doesn't really stand out as you walk up to the game.
I’d take one please if you do a small run.
Please pm me if you do
I recently came across this Whirlwind along with a Taxi and Pinbot at an elderly customers house when I was doing some electrical work. We struck up conversation and I offered my services to get them operational again. They haven’t been serviced since the 90’s and are in need of rubber and a good cleaning. As I was opening the back boxes to check the for battery leak issues the Whirlwind which was less than 6” away from a leaking skylight had the most severe damage and the battery holder just came right off the board in my hand. The two other machines were lucky to not have any damage other than bad battery holders. My customer told me that the Whirlwind never got much play because the rules were hard to follow particularly for his grandchildren and asked me if I wanted to buy it and I was not hesitant to make him an offer which was fair to us both, he is also hiring me to work on his other two machines in partial trade, he tossed in the Silverball backglass for free as well. After I got the machine home I immediately pulled the MPU, addressed the acid damage with vinegar and paint brushes to which I was able to remove with minimal damage left. Luckily the board traces didn’t suffer exposure and other than one bad lamp diode, a bad flasher drive transistor and one display segment out the MPU boots and the machine plays. Tear down and cleaning was fun, all the ramps and inaccessible parts of the playfield were covered in a layer of fine black dust. Now I wait for replacement parts and LEDs then I can get this one put back together.

Congrats man. The playfield looks to be in great shape. I just picked up a Whirlwind also and the MPU looks just like that, mines will boot if it sits for 30 minutes. I'm letting a buddy try and clean it up before I just buy a new MPU.
Quoted from Budman:I have been searching for a new translight and coming up empty. Does anyone have an extra one or know where I can find one? A guy on EBay is selling a NOS for $185 which is out of my price range.

I think that one has been out if stock for a while, at least according to the availability notice. I never tried to go all the way through checkout though.

Pinball Center in europe has repros.

That’s where I got mine from. It did say out of stock when I got it, messaged him and he ended up having some. It’s showing as very limited stock.
In case anyone else here is looking for one, Classic Arcades, Inc. has them ....sending one out to me now.
Started putting my Whirlwind back together and the lack of GI on the right side on either side of the ball lock and on the right side of the upper flipper drove me crazy. Fixed it right up with some self adhesive mini LED modules used for signs.

Id wonder if they are decent or not. I bought a set of plastic protectors for my Fish Tales from classic arcades and they were junk. The boat protector shattered and the boat plastic broke with a single hit. One of my sling protectors is broken also. Made me less than happy. Actually wanted to buy a laser cutter just to start making my own.
Quoted from Flynnyfalcon:Looks mint! congrats.
Thanks, the TNT gang deserve the credit. This game is loads of fun!
Hey Kris...thanks for the purchase...and the gifts you gave the guys who worked on it...it certainly is the nicest one we have ever had!! Todd
Quoted from Budman:I just reached “Mega Door”
next up - go for the 3-way combo.. its a little freaky!
Quoted from Budman:So that is first the million shot, then what...?
Left orbit + top orbit from upper flipper + left/cross ramp from upper flipper = fun times!
Does anyone have an extra or know where to get the under ramp eject deflector? When I got my game in pieces, it wasn’t there. I’m currently improvising with a regular deflector, but I get a lot of rejections unless I backhand it. Rest of game looks amazing though!

I bought mine from here:
https://www.rtbb.com.au/product/blue-rubber-pad-with-adhesive-backing-23-6645/
It's from Oz through, so you may be able to find somewhere closer to home. I was still getting rejections even after installing it. I ended up rotating it 90 degree so instead of running up the metal tab it was actually laid across it near the bottom. That seemed to help a lot!
Edit - I just re-read your post. Are you missing the metal tab entirely?
Something like one of these might work:
https://www.thepinballwizard.net/playfield-parts/eject-hole-deflector-01-6933-1/
or
https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/193415052369
Depending on their angle you may need to bend them further (if possible).

Does someone have the answer to this post? I have the same question. Are the two small clouds part of the factory plastics with a designated location, and where is the clear plastic with the 5 holes supposed to be used?
Thank you.

You should repost the pics or mention the post#, nobody's gonna dig through this entire thread looking for whatever you're talking about.

Here's what I did with a mix of old plastics and the "extras" from the new plastic set. I settled on Version 2.

Thank you. Apparently the factory did not install the 2 extra clouds found in the new plastic kit, but I still wonder the purpose of the clear piece with the five holes.

I’m currently using the first one on my game. I had to bend it backwards to even let the ball fit. It rejects like mad. I might try switching to the taller one and put the pad on it.
Need a little help with the extra ball stand up target. It doesn’t reset when turning on the game, at the start of a new game or between balls. It only resets during coil test or ball search. Once it’s down after one of those two, it stays down. I am no tech, so hope it’s a simple fix! Thanks!
I am guessing that switch 26 isn't reporting the drop target as down. Have the drop target up. Remove the balls. The 3 switches on the coin door, have the middle one down... now power up the pin, it should bitch about missing balls first thing. Press the Advanced button one time and you should get Music Test or something to that effect on the display. Click the center switch so it is in the raised position, now click the Advanced button until you get "Switch Levels".
With the balls out, nothing should be happening. Hold down an outlane switch and you should get a pulsing glitch noise and switch info the display while you hold it down. Got that, good... now drop the single drop target and you should get that pulsing glitch noise and the display has Top Single Drop 06 26.
My guess is, nothing. You can see about flipping up the playfield and "wiggle test" the wiring and such and see/listen if said switch 26 reports.
