Quoted from Jmckune:

Just for comparisons sake, it takes about $20 and 20-30 mins to rebuild a power supply with new components and have far superior reliability than the rotten dog.

The one I picked up was from Marco.. not sure if it is a Rottendog replacement or someone else. The photos look different from the Rottendog ones.

It would prob take me an hour because I am slow.. that is an hour I could be spending getting your shaker kits built

The one from Marco is actually a good design. I just rebuilt the one of mine in Whirlwind and was shocked how easy it was

Anyone in the SF-Bay / Sacramento / Central Valley area looking to sell their Whirlwind?

My wife and I have moved to a large enough place that we have enough room for a machine of our own! It's rough not being able to shop around at shows, as it seems they won't be happening for the foreseeable future. We've been looking at ads online, but it's hard to pull the trigger on something that we both haven't played. We know that we would love a Whirlwind though. I can promise that it would go to a loving and caring home!

Try using the PinMap. Filter it to your area and the machine WhirlWind. That'll show who has it within an acceptable distance. PM those people and sometimes that can trigger someone to sell that maybe wouldn't have.

Post a wanted ad too, I found exactly what I was looking for within 48 hours!

Is there a way to make the blower (topper) spin faster?
I can hardly feel the power of the wind..
Feels more like a breeze then a whirlwind
Help much appreciated!

Wow, mines too windy, gets annoying if I can’t hit the ramp

I don't feel it at all unfortunately..

Hey guys! Need your help...
My restoration is almost complete. I plugged the PF on the side of the cab to trouble shoot and tune before the final steps.

I found lots of broken connections (last time I use the dishwasher. Fast is not the right way...take your time. A toothbrush and a good playlist)

Question;
1) any of my under board lights (see pic) are working. I lost à huge 16 pins connector in the dishwasher and I found a single brown/Gray wire that might fit. It Looks line Pin1 of J11 on thé interconnect board. When I touch the wire with pin1 nothing is happening...
Here is a couple pictures.
Thanks
Lou

...maybe just a picture of which bundle of wires the single Brown/gray wire on J11 is coming from (interconnect board).
Thanks!

Btw I sandblasted (good paint stripper will do) the Apron and plunger cover to add a blue Finish on it. Still waiting for the repro decals. I think it will be great!
You got the idea!

Down to my last issue with my game. The upper green southwest arrow isn’t wanting to light up ever. Not in attract, not in test, not In game. All other lamps are operational and functioning correctly. Verified pulsing dc voltage at outer lugs on the single pcb but there is nothing making it to the part where the socket twists in to. Any ideas? Doesn’t seem like something that would fail but I tried reflowing the diode and the wires and still the same thing.

Funny, it fell off the dishwasher on mine too. So much connector, so little wire.

it seems really dumb, but this is it

Have you tried replacing the diode. Had one go bad on my whirly. I tried everything and it was the diode in the end.

Been having an issue with my spinner, sometimes the ball hits it and bounces back, the find the spinner is leaning to close to the wall and isn’t allowing to spin, anyone else have this issue, quick game from tonight.

There should be 2 rubber spacing rings on the spinner on the side where the switch lever is. Make sure the one close to the post is pushed adequately so there is no binding

Hi guys
Still have one thing bugging me with my latest WW restoration.
By the way, to make you laugh, last Time I asked for help was a problem with my board lights under The PF. All board lights were dead. I runned down a mile of wires.
2 days later I realised that I had forgot to put leds in all the board sockets.
Yep. Im that guy

So now I have another problem left. The xtraball drop target is never coming up once it’s hit. It works fine in service but once it’s shot in a game, the coil never activate de Target.
What are the shots that trig this drop Target?
Thsnks!!

It should always pop back up. Check the switch at the bottom of the assembly. It sounds like it's not registering.

Good call yaksplat!
Green wire was out of the opto board connector!
Thanks!

Here’s some shots of those spacers, they seem like plastic not rubber. The spinner doesn’t stay in the middle of the lane.

Wasn’t sure exactly what they were made of. In any case, on mine I have it moved so the one on the right in your picture is up above the slope so it forces the spinner to stay in place.

#3779 3 years ago

How does it stay in place if it’s above the slope?it doesn’t fall back down?
On a side note how do we turn off the knocker?
Thanks

The rings stay in place pretty good and takes some force to get it up the slope. It does not fall back down

wire cutters.

#3783 3 years ago

Can’t you just turn it off in settings? Why cut wire??

I believe there's a molex connector for the knocker (at least mine has one)

#3786 3 years ago

I don't think so. If there's a molex, it's not original.

#3787 3 years ago

No love for knockers in here. Odd ...

Mine is off. Just disable replay and match awards.

I love knockers.

So I moved the piece up the slope and it helps to keep the spinner aligned better. I played a game and it was a bit better, but then it started again, those spacers are pretty snug, but I don’t see them stopping the spinner.
I noticed my inserts are raised up quite a bit and makes the ball jump when it rolls over some of them, maybe it’s hopping over that SE insert preventing a smoother spinner shot?

I play late night and don’t want the family waking up to gunshots

It takes some adjusting. Here’s how mine is just to make sure yours is the same. Is it hitting on the wall or is it getting hung up by a possible bent switch blade underneath?

Almost done with my Whirlwind restore but I need to find a new spinner. The spinner in my right orbit is clearly not factory and is causing some issues slowing down the ball etc.

I can’t seem to find any linked part on Marco, and I don’t want to just guess. Can someone point me in the right direction to the accurate spinner? Thanks

Keep an eye on Marco. They've been offering free shipping on orders over $99 recently. Bought a CPR PF from them.
