I’d be interested as well
I'll be putting in Comet Comet LEDs but have read some things about using incandescent bulbs for the flashers. Is this a good idea & why? Thanks

Because LED flashers are freakin bright. And traditional flashers look good still.

Ah... It's the lone wire that's going to J11 on the interconnect board.

I had LED flashers. It something about the System 11 boards/wiring caused the flashers to flicker when I hit flippers. There’s a way to install diodes on each flasher to stop it from happening, but in the end, I didn’t want to alter the game originality and put the incandescent flashers back in. Only on the flashers insert the red domes. I did put a mix of white and purple LED in the flashers behind the back panel clouds and they work/look great!
Has anyone picked up the CPR mirrored back glass for Whirlwind? Or any other mirrored one in that case. I'm curious about how they look.

IMHO, it is much darker in color than the original, much more noticeable when the pin turned off. If I can find my original, I'll see about doing a side by side photo of them. But with the pin turned on, and an Coin Taker LED kit, I'm very happy with how it looks.
Hello new Whirlwind owner and new to the forum in general. Looking forward to reading through everything here soon. 1st project, new power cord end starts tomorrow. Ground was pulled out. There will definitely be some lighting changes needing made soon and a multiball issue to troubleshoot soon.

Quoted from yaksplat:Hey, yours has a red plunger too. I wonder how many have red...
We could do a poll lol.

I'll fix it! Just got it home Saturday

The playfield too...
Quoted from BenB:Can anybody point me in the right direction as far as finding a replacement spinner for my WW. Mine is currently beat to crap and would like a new one. I ordered new orange foil so I’m good on the decal part.
Does anyone know where to buy a set of ramp decals? Mine have areas that detached and dirt/grime got underneath from some previous cleaning attempt.

If the decals are in good shape clean with isopropyl to remove all adhesive and dirt.
Re-adhere with spray adhesive or double sided tape like Scotch ATG Adhesive Transfer Tape 976.
I'm wanting to make a light bulb order but before I do I thought I'd run it by you all. 50 1smd non ghosting frosted, bayonet, 50 1smd non ghosting frosted wedge. Would that be a good start and those are compatible correct? Those are all 6.3v. Then to get free shipping, maybe some flashers? The 8smd 12 volts would work correct? I haven't gotten to check what base style the flashers are in my machine. I have had some lights on very faintly when they shouldn't be so I figured non- ghosting wouldn't be the worst idea.

Leave your flashers incandescent. Due to other problems if you read up in thread recent posts. If you lift your PF, you could count out your bayonet and wedge, If you wanted you could color match your inserts with non-ghosting frosted. And do 2smd frosted for your GI, Probably going to be short with only 100

Thanks for the advice! I don't plan on replacing every light right away or color matching. Just looking to build a nice stockpile. I'll probably start by replacing the handful that are burnt out, ghosting or just don't look right. For some reason my 2 nw targets are different colors currently and the storm chaser on my back glass is a giant bright red mess. Just mainly wanted to make sure those specific bulbs from comet pinball are good to go. I can always order more I'd just hate to have 100 bulbs that don't fit.

ok well this is when it usually comes... uneventfully start to multi-ball tonight..[quoted image]
Is that an extra layer under the cellar protectors? I see something thin and clear.

It looks like there might be a playfield protector installed.

Absolutely that's a playfield protector. I had put one on my Bally Game Show, man it played fast with it!

Ah... you know, i was looking at it wrong. I was thinking that it wasn't covering everything and that it was just around the edges. I see it now. Thanks!
Quoted from yaksplat:what does the part look like that lifts the ramp? I can't get a good picture of it anywhere. Mine looks like a cut off and ground post. Is that what it should be?[quoted image]
It wears out that way. I got one at Marco pinball. Part # 02-4429

Pin crank for ramp lifting mechanism.

I think mine was hand made. There's no way that half of the shaft wore out evenly. Adding this to my next order. Thanks!
Quoted from jhanley:When it gets like that it won't lift the ramp high enough and ball will get stuck underneath it.
Mine was worn the same way as that.

It's amazing how often that happens.

Geez, great score. My GC is still at 15mil, my WW is brutal!!
Great looking pin btw.

WhiWi is byside with TZ and TAF a keeper in my collection. Yes, I have the mirrored glas. It looks great but only people involved in pinball will see the difference !
I also have a custom made mirrorglas in TZ, also looking great. I love the effect that mirror looks trough in some areas !
It is worth the money ...
Quoted from pencilneck:A short film staring my Whirlwind:
Very nice work !
BUT .. are you shaking the poor pin or the camera ?!
Quoted from pencilneck:A short film staring my Whirlwind:
Crazy score without any multipliers lit!
Cool video.. seems like most my games end in a left outlane drain.
