2 questions: I am putting all new decals on my whirlwind.....the decal with the manufacture date on the back of the machine is unreadable.....my serial # is 331001 does anyone have a serial # close that could give me a date......and who sells the best 3 center spinner decals?

Quoted from CollinT:

Joining the WW club! Purchased from a Pinsider for a good deal at $2300. Had to make an 8 hour round trip on a Sunday to get it.
Been replacing lots of old burnt out bulbs with LED's and just received the blade stickers. Plan on installing them soon.
The left yellow bumpers 3000 points when lit bulb has been bypassed. Going to try and figure out why someone did that. Besides that, love my WW !

Welcome and I have those exact same games.

Thanks! That's funny, the guy who I got the WW from had it next to a Taxi as well.

I have contemplated getting this too and can’t decide between classic orange and blue. I really would like to see the blue in person.

I've had nothing but good luck buying Rottendog products from these guys... Including blue displays for my WW & ES. You want DIS240B.

I'm thinking about getting the CPR repo back glass but in the pictures the "C" on the Cubs hat looks green, not red. Has anyone purchased one of these and could you let me know the color, please? As a Cubs fan, this actually makes a difference to me.

I've emailed CPR, but have yet to hear back.

When I ordered mine from CPR, they only had second runs left that had a heavier layer of magenta. I'll try and snap some pics of mine when I get home. Keep in mind these look different lit up. They appear much darker, etc unlit b/c of the process.

Thanks nerdygrrl !

Ultimately, I'd love to have a Earthshaker next to the Whirlwind so having them both set up with more traditional backglasses would be cool. Of course, as I mentioned, the draw for me is also to get the "C" logo on the hat.

Just reverse engineer what Williams did 30 years ago and make a C sticker!

#2018 6 years ago

It's hard to say what it will look like installed, but all of the surrounding green does look like it reflects onto the logo. Again, this was a "second" so the colors were off, you may be lucky to find a shop with the original run.

Well, I'd be getting one from the same batch too.

Thanks for the pictures. This was helpful.

#2021 6 years ago

Is the installation of the blue display simple? Is it more than just unplugging the stock one and plugging in the new blue one? Same connectors and all?

If your order from CPR, but you may get lucky if you shop around or post a WTB. Somebody may have one of the firsts. This was a second with the wrong coloring.

#2025 6 years ago

I may have a first run glass from cpr I’d be willing to part with. I found a nos translate and decided to go that direction.

I was told directly from a CPR guy not to buy the remaining backglass if you were going to use it in a game so I’d steer clear of those ones.

Fired up my WW about a day ago for the first time since doing my first ever PF swap. It needs a few small adjustments but it turned out pretty good! 16 days between the last power up on the old playfield and first power up on the new. Worked on it for a couple hours most days inbetween.

i think even if your serial numbers are not close.....if i get enough numbers and dates maybe i can figure out how many they made in a average day and figure my date that way

That's lovely, you would think they would just pull them or put for "display only".

Seems like a poor strategy for them. "Don't use this thing for its intended purpose!"

Can someone explain this date format to me, please?

First two digits are year. Next three digits are day of the year. (Jan 1st - "001").

looks like i can just put on a blank decal since everyone date of manufacture is gone

#2048 6 years ago

I currently have 3 serial number and readable date codes so starting to figure out an average manufactured per day to get to my date code........any additional numbers will help............I know this is being very picky ........but hey it's pinball!!!

#2049 6 years ago

Are there any high quality pics/scans of the coin door cabinet graphics anywhere? I could also buy the decal but I don’t need an entire set for all sides. I have the ability to print some decal graphics at work and might be able to make some if I had the right picture.

#2050 6 years ago

Picked up a Whirlwind recently. In decent shape. I had to de-rainbow-puke it, rivet one target and replace another broken one.

Question: When a ball is in the shooter lane for a period of time, the game goes into a ball search. Is this normal?
Shooter lane switch is working correctly.
