That one behind the drops is always destroyed! I could use one of those.
They're almost non existent because they always broke and when CPR made the repros they only gave us one.If you get the new repros make sure you get the Pinbits protectors.
Hi everyone does anybody know or have info about a new plastic set repro will be made?
or if someone get a spare one to sell even a second hand it will be great.
Thanks

good question
If interested, here is a link to another thread where I posted information on the cost and time of doing my recent WW restoration.

Quoted from Okarcades:so it lights up when the blower turns on.
Nice--I've got the blue LED's when it turns on
The problem with the topper is that it is opaque. You can't get it to light up from the inside no matter how many LED's you put in there.
As for the outer strip? I think it would take away from the fan glow and not look that great. Too many lights. Now, if someone made a cloud
topper which was translucent, that would be awesome.
I plan on putting 2 LED strips in front of the cloud and 1 behind it and tie them to the 3 flashers that are the lightning bolt above the playfield in the back. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

A cloud topper would be absolutely fantastic on Whirlwind, like the translucent topper on TAF.
Starting to spend more time on the pin. What a great game. Compared to todays complex rule sets it is simpler but very rewarding. Really glad I picked this up. 2 questions.
Question: Has any one removed the play field mylar and replaced the insert decals? How did that work out? My play field is pretty nice except that the decal inserts under the mylar have broken down over time.
I was reading that the original translights has a "W" sticker put over the "C" for Cubs on the kids baseball cap. It looks like my translight has the sticker. Question: has any one removed the sticker and how did that work out?

I would leave the mylar alone unless you are planning on having the playfield clear coated afterwards. It can be a lot of work to get all of the old paint off for the new decals, get the inserts level with the playfield, etc.
Mine didn't have the sticker so I can't really comment on that. I'd think it should come off pretty easily given the material translights are made of.

By all accounts, removing mylar on this era game is a disaster. Places like HSA won't even restore these playfields.

+1 to what he said. At one point in time I thought it would be a good idea, but after lots of paint loss and other issues it was something that I wished I never did. After that, I was lucky enough to grab a new PF so it all worked out in the end. But the repro PFs are hard to find and no ETA on when a new batch will be run. So I'd avoid messing with it and just have fun playing it.

Only the non-dp games though.
So I am working on putting togetherness the shopping list for my ww. I currently have black rubbers but in #798 post, they are white. Which are correct, and while I am at it, what is a good source for a "kit". Thanks guys, it is amazing what I learn d in the last few months being on here. Completely modded my getaway I had for over a decade after getting out the a show for the first time.
I'm excited to have just picked up a Whirlwind. I realized that my right ramp needs to be replaced since the prior repair job was not so good. I can't find a replacement right ramp for sale at Marco, Planetary or Bay Area Amusemnets or on Ebay. Anyone have one they will sell of know where to get one? Thanks!

I pulled the mylar on my WW. The inserts were raised badly. I only lost one insert decal during the pull. After resetting the inserts I touched up all the key lines and a few of the inserts with black acrylic paint before clear coating. Results were good, better that I expected.
Quoted from RyanClaytor:Hello Fellow WW Owners,
Does anyone have drop-target artwork files for WW? I'd like to refresh mine. Feel free to PM.
Many thanks,

Most of the vendors have them available as laminated Already.
So my ramp stays stuck up most of the time now. If I giggle the lever sometimes it will come down in a new game. Any advice on what to look for to fix the ramp?

Clean and adjust the associated coil and mech for the ramp. Probably all gunked up and not adjusted properly.

Also check the switch that indicates when the ramp is up or down. It's got a long, bent arm and they have been known to bend or break over the years.

this. I just replaced the switch in mine a couple of months ago.

Pic by chance of what this looks like?
Can anyone here explain why a blue and a white topper were made for these? I've always wondered about that.

This please. Mine doesn't operate smoothly

Blue is aftermarket. Stock is white.

Good to finally know. Thanks!!
So yesterday I was poking around in my lower cabinet and noticed that two bolts, (one on each side of the cabinet that the playfield rests and swivels on when lifted) are simply just threaded bolts with no nut on either one of them. They are basically just hanging out making the holes oblong. Does anyone know where I can get the correct hardware for each side as shown in the photo below?
Is this what I need?
Quoted from dsuperbee:^ The nut in the picture is what you need, as well as a washer between the nut and the cab.
Okay great. What is the correct size?
Edit: Never mind got it!! Thanks!!
Rerun is happening at some point, that is all we have been told. I believe this question (not yours, but in general) that was one of the reasons behind Stu leaving. Your PF looks to be in pretty good shape
Quoted from EEE:Does anyone in this club have a spare NOS or lightly used 'W' flipper bat? One of my originals broke. New ones are less yellow and more orange colored
*edit.. I see that Marco sells them so I will go that route.
I got mine from PBR. Perfect match color wise
