I'm putting more kits together based on demand to add a light to the blower when it is on.

It's all self contained under the dome and takes about 15 mins to install.

Video here:

The kit is $45.00 shipped in the US

To order - Paypal $45.00 to cranie4@yahoo.com Be sure to include address

Thanks
Mike

**Here are the instructions for installation:Whirlwind Blower Mod

While this can be installed with the back box in the upright position it may be easier from the lowered position. If you lower remember to undo the wing nut holding the ground braid inside the back box first ( if yours is like mine and not long enough to stay connected with the back box lowered).

Remove the blower dome (good time to clean it inside and out and also wipe the fan blades)

Find a location for the power converter to the left of the fan motor assembly that will allow for the wires to reach the fan motor tabs and keep the fan unobstructed and also allow for the dome to fit back on.

Secure the converter to the back box using the 3M double stick tape.

Solder one wire per side to the Fan motor tabs. Polarity doesn't matter as it's AC voltage.

Run the wires with the led to just under and behind the fan blades so it's centered underneath.

Peel the adhesive strip on the bottom of the LED and place it firmly.

Test the kit using the "Coil Test". The LED's should light when the blower motor activates.

Replace the dome and put the back box in it's upright position (reconnect the ground braid if it was disconnected).

ENJOY!

That is super cool. I don't have a Whirlwind, but if I did....

#3 6 years ago

I like it. If I owned a Whirlwind, I would want one.

#4 6 years ago

Count me in!

#5 6 years ago

I have done this to mine as well. It is really cool.

#6 6 years ago

I'm interested!

#7 6 years ago

I did this to mine as well. This is an older video, as I have since replaced the original Warm LEDs with two Balrog CW Flashers so the higher voltage from the fan doesn't burn up the LEDs.

I'd like to see the fan and clouds light up in sync with the lightning effect on the playfield and backglass. I think somebody has already done it though.

I want a WW. PM me if you have a really nice one for sale. Then I will buy the mod.

Like the one in my video? You just wire some sockets to the lightning board.

Interesting to have the flashers tied to the ones in the back. My kit uses a converter to a LED strip.

Did you just use some led flashers in there or 44s? No strain on the circuit? Just curious as I was going to do the same to mine.. looks killer..

#13 6 years ago

This is my version of shanetastics WW light mod he shared awhile back.

Both, the setup kinda looks like PinWillie's pictures above, but here is my current configuration

2x Warm White LEDs each attached to a GI rear lamp (might switch to UV)
2x CT "Balrog" Flasher 44 bulbs attached to the fan motor (higher voltage LEDs)
1x CT 9 stack Coolwhite 906 flasher on first lightning lamp
1x CT 9 stack Orange 906 flasher on second lightning lamp
1x CT 9 stack Coolwhite 906 Flasher on third lightning lamp
1x CT 9 stack Red 906 Flasher on the High Pressure flasher insert
1x CT 9 stack Blue 906 Flasher on the Low pressure flasher insert

The only issue I had was the fan frying LEDs after a while, but the Balrog higher voltage flashers seemed to solve this problem that i had.

I've had requests for the kit so I'm wondering if there is enough interest in the 15 LED version for me to do another run.

Let me know

Still a few kits left to anyone who wants one. I most likely will not be doing a 3rd run for a long time so get yours now.
