Quoted from TomGWI:

They barely got Kiss out the door yet!

Yep. Gotta love Stern. The only pin manufacturer who we can speculate about how many titles they are going to cram into one year.

Quoted from John_I:

GOT is next. Figure Sept/Oct. SMVE is a holiday release.

I have zero inside info on this, but this makes perfect sense.

#83 8 years ago
Quoted from The_Dude_Abides:

I have absolutely no inside info on this but my gut says if Stern does do an LCD for DMD it will not be for GOT. My gut says that the first LCD will be on a new Star Wars pin next year some time.

Jack has strongly implied that he has the license for SW

#93 8 years ago
Quoted from lowepg:

lol... he barely does what he SAYS.... or what hes CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED to do... how can you give ANY weight to what he implies?!!?!?!?

Heh. Why are you assuming that I give it any weight at all?

I was simply reporting what he said.

#95 8 years ago
Quoted from TheLaw:

Whilst I agree it would be a looong time, all the other companies have had their crack at it and fialed, so why not JJp.

Why not JJP? Did you miss the 4 year wait part?

#98 8 years ago
Quoted from Aurich:

It's how we get into all this preorder trouble, always dreaming about what could be!

I haven't pre-ordered a pin since STLE.

I think I'm cured.

#104 8 years ago
Quoted from John_I:

Sorry, but that is not a pre-order in the true sense of the term. Paying for a game within a month of receiving it and know 100% that you are going to actually get it on time is not a pre-order. Just sayin'. That is simply an "order".

Sorry, but you are arguing semantics and using your own definition of "pre-order."

When I put money down on STLE, it was long before any pictures were released or that Star Trek was even officially announced by Stern. I didn't get my STLE anywhere close to a month after putting money down with my distributor. It was more like 5 months. Obviously never played it either.

If that isn't a pre-order, I don't know what is.

#107 8 years ago
Quoted from John_I:

Ordering a game years ahead of time before anyone has seen it and possibly before the company goes belly up. And yes, it is just semantics. If you want to call Stern's system a pre-order then we need some other words for the JJP and JPOP style pre-orders. There is a reason that apples and oranges each have their own names.

They are both pre-orders. They are just different kind of pre-orders, with one being more risky than the other.

One is practically a crowdfunding type of pre-order.

Quoted from mnpinball:

A vault edition, Ritchie games back to back then Thrones or vice versa then Trudeau 2016.

Ironic how you try to clarify your earlier post and make it just as confusing!

Back to back Ritchie games *then* Thrones? If Thrones is Ritchie, the way you phrase your post means that there are *three* Ritchie pins coming out in a row. Or are you saying GoT isn't Ritchie?

A vault edition could mean that's the Ritchie pin, followed by GoT (which is Ritchie?) so that would be "Ritchie games back to back". Adding "then Thrones or vice versa" really confuses what you are trying to say.

I have my doubts that GoT will have an LCD screen for the simple reason that I think we would have heard more rumors/leaks of this actually happening.

If GoT does have an LCD, Stern did a damn good job of keeping it under wraps.

#304 8 years ago
Quoted from Arcade:

I don't know. Remember WWE? Not a lot of leaks on that one.
And that was an entire game.

There were leaks on that one. There are threads where people said WWE was the next pin. It never gained traction, because not many people gave a crap.

#340 8 years ago
Quoted from zucot:

GOT announced to steal the thunder from the JJP open house. Battle of the toy dragons. More flippers than have been seen in a Stern in a long time.

I'm curious about the differences that there will be between the Premium and LE versions.

Quoted from TaTa:Deleted post

.

Quoted from TaTa:

Remember...I said nothing

I had forgot you said anything from your first post. Then you said it again and I remembered.

#411 8 years ago
Quoted from Guinnesstime:

Music pins are successful over the years. Jimi next? Possibly but 2 music pins in a row is not the typical pattern.

It wouldn't be two in a row since GoT and SMVE will come between them at a minimum.

#418 8 years ago

Boy those ratings are more screwed up than ever. LOTR LE is sitting in the Top 10 right along with the normal version. So LOTR is in the Top 10 twice.

#421 8 years ago
Quoted from beelzeboob:

Star Trek being in the Top 10 is the most screwed up thing.

#430 8 years ago
Quoted from The_Dude_Abides:

I bet it sells as well or better than VEs already out there.

VEs already out there? There's only one.

Did I miss a release?

#501 8 years ago
Quoted from Nevus:

I'm excited to see what comes. An LCD is not that big of a deal to me.

Exactly.

I *do* want an LCD. But I am certainly not going to make a decision to buy or not buy GoT based on whether it has an LCD screen! You don't play the LCD screen any more than you play the playfield or cabinet art. Yes, it can add to the visual enjoyment overall, but that's a small percentage of the overall enjoyment of the pin, with the majority coming from how it shoots, rules, call outs, sounds, and music, as well as theme integration.

TWD has some of the best dots I have ever seen. There is definitely a part of me that will miss the creativity that goes into creating those types of displays when they are replaced with the LCD.

Like Ben said in another thread:

Quoted from benheck:

Stern could release Ghostbusters with a piece of whiteboard to write your scores on in leiu of a display and most of you still would sprain your wrists trying to pull out your wallets fast enough.
Displays are nice, but in the end the GAME matters.

#505 8 years ago
Quoted from Shapeshifter:

I look at what is out there - WOZ/Hobbit display, new MM display, Heighway LCD, BOP 2.0 Color display, Color DMD, even Nero has LCD. And Stern just regular DMD, not even color and people are ok with it??

Like I said, I want an LCD screen. But I will still buy GoT without one if I like what I see

Not sure if that means I'm "ok with it" or not under your definition

Frankly I prefer what I see on my TWDs DMD over what I've seen on Heighways LCD on Full Throttle

#533 8 years ago
Quoted from iceman44:

Man I'm not seeing that Rob with TWD dots. Of course I haven't changed out my display yet which has some issues but Road Show blows it away imo.
Either way I don't really care about any Dmd. It's time to move onward and upward.

That's crazy! I have a RS here right now (baby sitting it) with a color dmd in it no less, and I think the dots on TWD blow it away.

#623 8 years ago
Quoted from DaveH:

I heard great things of how far along TWD was with all the shows voices and amazing rules... right up until the day it released.

Who did you hear that from?

Anyone on this forum? Because I definitely don't recall reading that from any reliable source. In fact I specifically held off ordering TWD because I knew code wouldn't be very far along for several months.

If you can tell us who said this, we would know not to put any faith in what they say.

#628 8 years ago
Quoted from iceman44:

Man I love my TWDLE. It's my favorite pin i have. I love em all but this one is special.
However, the "dots" BLOW chunks.

Best damn dots in any pin I've ever owned.

#631 8 years ago

I'm sure we are talking about two different things. He is looking for photorealism, which is why he wants an LCD. I'm talking about the creativity of the dots themselves, and the way they fit the theme, and often make me laugh.

#662 8 years ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

Seek immediate medical attention...
The pop-bumber and transporter animations alone should make you hug a ST... meanwhile IM and TRON get straight up FMV copies that for the most part require you to study to figure out wth it is. The only saving animation in TRON is the light cycle startup..which of course is taken directly from the movie. It lacks creativity and originality.

Couldn't agree more.

Liking the dots on IM and Tron better than TWD and ST is plain bonkers.

IM is one of my favorite pins ever. The dots are horrifyingly bad.

#665 8 years ago
Quoted from T-800:

Anyone else surprised if they actually make an announcement this week, especially after the Facebook response to the speculation? My guess is next week, after labor day, following more closely with what they've done in the past... I wonder what the odds are the title is not going to be GoT...

I am not sure when the announcement will take place, but I am sure that GoT will be made by Stern (even if it isn't the next announced title).

Like you said, history shows that Stern tends to announce a title within a few days of Labor day.

#696 8 years ago
Quoted from pinballcorpse:

There's no time to look at the dots on IM

Thank God!

Quoted from iceman44:

What is there to argue about? When Stern implements it we will all go nuts!

Can't argue with that.

#699 8 years ago
Quoted from RandomGuyOffCL:

Anyone here consider that Stern may be having a dilemma on how to implement the lcd into the pro model at current prices or be scrambling on a way make the lcd exclusive to premium/le models only?

Interesting point. I don't think there is much added cost to the pro though. It's the development that is costly, so once that's done for the Premium/LE there would be much to do/change for the pro (I would think).

The LCD screen itself probably won't cost much more than the DMD.

#731 8 years ago
Quoted from frolic:

Does anyone think they'll really announce a new game going into the last long weekend of summer? Don't distributors want the weekend off instead of handling phone calls?
It will be next week if it happens.

Stern announced TWD a week after Labor Day last year, so what you say makes sense.

#740 8 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

Someone randomly throwing something out there isn't "news" ...it's not even a rumor!

In this case, though, it's definitely a rumor.

#744 8 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

I don't buy it.

Well I'm not necessarily the one selling it.

This isn't one that I'm going to vouch for, let's put it that way. But at the same time, there are definitely rumors about this happening.

#760 8 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

There were rumors about Hunger Games, Angry Birds and Muppets, too....

Well the list is actually longer than that if you want it to be. For example, Jaws. Some rumors have more validity than others, depending on the source. I never considered any of the above to be a serious possibility except possibly Hunger Games. Besides, most of those rumors weren't rumors at all, but were merely peoples guesses based on stupid shit Stern would post on their facebook page. That's called speculation, not rumor. Jimmy Hendrix rumors are not the result of anything posted on Stern's FB page.

Would you call Game of Thrones a rumor?

#762 8 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

Of course, but seems solid enough. If it turned out to be false, at least it was believable.

Thank you! Exactly my point. Some rumors are more valid than others.

#764 8 years ago
Quoted from badbilly27:

Not to add to the rumor mill but I thought a license was confirmed for this title. Or am I confusing it with something else?

As far as I know, you are confusing it with something else. I have never seen any confirmation of a GoT license to Stern.

That said, I am confident that GoT is coming.

#770 8 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

LOL, that thread has bit more comedy in it I think. Isn't taking itself as seriously as this one.

It can't take itself seriously when the OP basically says "I know Stern's next pin and you don't, neener neener!"
