For what's it worth. Just bought my first pin (thanks Nick!). The kids really enjoyed it so wanted to start a collection. Since Im new, and not an expert on refurbishing, focused on NIB.

Called up some Stern dealers for some kid friendly Marvel themes. None had had existing inventory (or only LEs)

Regarding what I was looking for, 2 predicted Stern will produce a Spiderman VE and 2 predicted another Ironman release (I thought was interesting).

Quoted from Capinball:

I don't think it will destroy the original SM value but it should drop the demand for it. If prices for the new one are more in line with a premium machine than the original SM value should stay about the same. I'm more intrigued by the comic book Spider-Man artwork than Tobey Maguire and can't wait to see the product but GOT is definitely more interesting as a fresh pin vs rehash.

If it's any indicator, the used market for IM has dropped like a rock. Why would anyone buy a used one for over $4,200 when they can buy NIB with delivery and warranty for $4700.

Quoted from Capinball:

Right, because IMVE is almost the same exact product. Your assumption is that the new SMVE is the pro pricing. Many are claiming it will be at premium pricing. If someone is paying the premium price for the new SMVE than the current market value for a used SM isn't going to look as bad.

IM was the exact same so current owners just kept theirs. No one sold theirs to buy the new VE. Makes no sense

Current SM owners may upgrade for the comic art (which most people prefer) & other add. bells & whistles. They will sell their old ones for the new ones because it is different. No one keeps 2 of the same machines. IMO, SM's secondary market will take a huge hit from everyone who really wants a SM but want the newer version.
