Those games are too tough for the casuals, including kids that where drawn in by the theme.

Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:I think the story telling narrative would get stale after awhile.
I didn't think about the game this way. I Wonder how it fare in a home setup. Lastability anyone?

I don't think of the game that way. I mean X-Men is about as mode based as you can get. You can start any hero mode (8 of them) in any order you want by hitting shots. You can select which villain you want to battle (7 of them) in any order (as long as they are qualified).
So the only real story is good guys vs bad guys and that seem much less linear or narrative based than Spider-Man or other games that modes come in a particular order. The first released code of X-Men was more this way because you had to battle Magneto (Magneto Multiball) before you could do anything else.
This is actually one of my favorite things about the X-Men game structure. Since you can play the heroes and villains in any order, even an average player can see the majority of the game (within a few games) except the Danger Room and Dark Phoenix (which doesn't really exist yet) wizard modes.
As for not being the deepest of games...I will agree with you if you are meaning it doesn't require a lot of stagey or have a lot of side "frills", but if you mean there isn't a lot to see or not a lot to do, I would strongly disagree. I have never heard of, and seriously doubt, that ANYONE has got to Dark Phoenix mode in X-Men.
I do not mean anything beside the question. I was wondering if the game could last long in a home collection. I Am reasured now. I know I might own one down the line.
Akuma, good news. The real question is what is the new code about? Combos, new Dots, DMD mess... I think it will be about finishing the wizard modes.......... and Hopefully more stuff comming up till 1.9.
