They are kick out holes but they hold the ball until you lock 2, then they kick them out, or hit one hard enough to pop out This is at the VFW so I don't know if that's a change made to this particular machine?

Just watched avid on youtube and they're regular kick out on that vid...where's Schudel when you need him?
