Quoted from allknowing2012:Seriously would you purchase a pinball from 90% of the suggested themes here?
I wouldn't purchase any of the licensed themes they are doing now. So what's the difference?

Quoted from allknowing2012:Has this thread turned into "what show can I possibly remember from the 80s'"? Seriously would you purchase a pinball from 90% of the suggested themes here? Could they even license them? Could you picture a pinball machine from the suggestions?
So what you are telling me is that this pin would not sell?

You're getting the thread title wrong!

It was meant to be NOTHING from the 80's so from that standpoint there are issues with suggestions but as far as everything else ... sure why not. I can't speak for others but I only listed things that I thought had potential. Like Soylent Green - oh hell yes, the modes and toys are easy for me to imagine, same with Jonny Quest and Towering Inferno. Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is made for timed modes and well obviously a cannon. Ben Hur would be a fun way to remake NASCAR, take the outer loop and make it a chariot race instead of cars, plenty of mode options.
There was a bit of throwing stuff out just because we have fond memories of them but I think most of the other suggestions are doable, Scooby Do would be just a cool as Ghost Buster, and Hanna Barbera cartoons have lot's of potential. Why not Poseidon Adventure instead of POTC, a sinking cruise ship instead of pirate ship.
Could they be licensed, I'm betting yes. I'm pretty sure that all the Hanna Barbera stuff is owned Time Warner and I bet they would do a lic and probably cheaper than what gets paid for "current" stuff.
Quoted from markmon:I hate all old movies as much as I hate all old games. Super out on all these themes. There's no such thing as a classic. Anything more than about 15 years old looks super cheesy and all effects look silly.
Says the guy with an Attack From Mars avatar. An over 20 year old game.
What is that smell anyway?
Odin I think you need to the word "NOT" in capitol letters in the title. Too many people seem to be skipping over that word.
Not sure if it's been posted already, but 2001 would be outstanding. Officially licensed this time! (although the Gottlieb one is pretty awesome regardless)

What's that tell you? And the pinball machine isn't that good either.
Lets stick with some of the better decades, OK?
Grab a brew. Don't cost nothin.
You fucked up, you trusted us.
Is there anything you hate more than that horse?
Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life son.
Ramming Speed!

The movie one sheet already makes for excellent backglass art.
Don't put the candle back!

I'd love to see an early 60s EM-style pin based on the old board game Mystery Date. Collect a set of clothes and open the door in the backglass to see your mystery date - if he matches yours, you get a huge jackpot. Collect all five dates for a frenzy round, but avoid the "dud", who eats your bonus. Potential for groovy art, fun backglass toy, exciting "gamble", and simple gameplay. Nobody will make this, of course, but I can imagine.
