Here are some before and after photos of my Flying Carpet restoration. I refinished the cabinet, repainted and clearcoated the playfield, double-thicked the backglass and got it in good mechanical order. Of course, it got new rings and bulbs as well. After four months of work I have one of my all-time favorites to enjoy!
I'm pretty proud of my BOP restoration - https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/bop-restomod and while it may not seem like it. I have more hours in this than my BOP restoration https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/batman-de-pf . If I can get it accomplished I'll be really proud of it as well
Taking a Cowpoke that had weeds growing through it back to a working pinball. I sunk way more into it than I will ever get out of it, but it was worth the trouble.

Wish I could have done that at his age.

Talk about bringing a machine back from the dead! I wouldn't have even considered restoring that one.
Is that a rat's nest?
I've only restored 2 machines, but my Diner restore is my favorite so far ( https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/williams-diner-restoration ). Almost a 100% redraw of the play field to make decals. I learned so many new skills during this one that I still use almost every day.

Love that Stingray, Classic.

That's what I thought when I brought this one home, "Oh no, what have I gotten myself into". Wasn't even sure if I could make it work, let alone make it look good.

Is that a rat's nest?
Yup. Uffi insulation made up the cozy nest for the baby squirrels and it was covered with crystallized urine all over the playfield.
Thank God for the full Mylar that was down.
This one by a mile ... don't even want to think about how my hours. But I'm enjoying the outcome!

I can't even begin to...I guess you always remember your first, Space Shuttle, but there have been sooo many others that were more involved, including doing the BG, the PF, the cab, and everything mechanical (Defender, Time Fantasy, Cosmic Gunfight, Algar, Pharaoh...) that it is really hard to say which one I am most proud of...I take pride in all of them and I enjoy playing them too!

Boob mentioned it before. My all-time favorite restoration is the one I'm doing now with my son. Before this one was started I totally enjoyed restoring a theater of magic it is such a beautiful game. Doctor Who was never on my radar as a game to restore but my son had asked to do it. In the beginning I had to push him a little bit to continue on because he was tired of sanding and painting and cleaning. But now the game is close to being finished and I can't keep them out of my basement. I love the fact that he comes to me and asks "can we work on the game now dad". He is my youngest of three and it's been an extreme pleasure to spend time with him teaching him things like tools, techniques ,why this does that, why this goes here ,why do we clean up the shop every day. I know that he will keep this pinball for a very long time and always remember the times we spent together.
my locomotion because it was such a rusted piece of shit to begin with.

Mine was a Wms TURF CHAMP. A pin I lusted over for many years before finding
one. It had been on location at the Santa Cruz boardwalk for who knows how long.
The operator, rather than cleaning the play field, slathered on layers of varnish!
It took 9 months of careful cleaning to remove all of the varnish without
damaging the silk screening underneath. The mechanicals we not much better.
This is one of the last games that I'd consider selling.
