I know this is silly, but which pin is pin 1 on this IC?
On all the other chips on the MPU board, that semi circle is to the left. But most also have a dot bottom left to show which is pin one. This has a dot on the middle right?
So which is indicating the side where pin 1 is...the semi circle, or the circle? You would think they would bother to label it a bit better. No markings anywhere else on the chip..not on the sides and not underneath, and no diagram.
    Appreciate any help.

You'll run into worse. I especially like when they print dark brown on black with zero contrast. I have to get a magnifier out and angle them just right so they can be identified. Usually you can find the pinouts on the datasheet

Thanks wayout. I should have gone looking for a datasheet.
You'd think it wouldn't be too much hassle for them to just add a white dot.

This is the standard. The notch marks orientation and pin one directly to the left or bottom in this pic as circled. No need for another indication mark.

If you look on your pcb most of the time you see this same notch shape in the outline of the ic, to help you identify.

Just to add a bit of useless trivia to this. The manufacturer doesn't really use brown ink to mark these -- these are actually laser etched into the plastic. This was originally done to thwart counterfeiters as "our parts are laser printed and most counterfeiters cannot do that"... But as it turns out, the counterfeiters just black top the parts and use brown paint and nobody can tell the difference.
