You have the correct order.

AFM,MM then...? What was that other pin again

#53 11 years ago

Better? Don't you mean betterest?

#54 11 years ago

Hands down, AFM.

Just look at the prices. That should tell you what the consensus is.
Price wise:
MM, AFM, SM and RFM.

There you have it.

There's more truth to that statement than many people here will ever admit.

would like a mm, but would not trade my afm to get it,,rfm just not in their league

You can't accurately bring in prices without at least acknowledging supply. There are almost 2xs as many RFMs as there are MM, AFM, or SM (?).

If you cut the number of RFMs in half the price would likely be quite a bit higher. Price is a reflection of supply and demand.

mm
sm
afm

no placement on rfm, not enough time in on that one.

RFM is finally next in cue for me. After I get it done then you can come over and get some time on it.

#61 11 years ago

MM, because it can be sold to purchase several other pins.

Sure you can, because in this case, no one would really consider RFM anywhere in the league of those other titles.
The only title I would consider to not follow that logic is CC. It is expensive for reasons other than what is normal. (Exclusivety, last Williams/Bally conventional pin...) Since price was not mentioned by the OP, the posts about taking multiple pins over 1 MM are not valid. The question was, which do you like better? There is a reason that MM is so expensive. It is generally considered by most of the pinball population to be the best game. Otherwise, it wouldn't be the most expensive pin.
Now, if the OP said, you have $14000, how do you spend it, then we are talking a completely different set of responses.

I had an MM that I thought I'd keep forever, but eventually I sold it (a couple of months ago). As much as I loved it, the asking prices were insane. I love the game, but at that price, I'll cash out.

But again, the poll is not asking about money....just which one do you think is best.

AFM is "Brian Eddy's Grand Design 1.0"

MM is "Brian Eddy's Grand Design 2.0"

You can really tell that it's the same game, different theme with improvements to the design between AFM and MM. That being said, there are plenty of differences and we've never minded having both at the same time.

AFM has great sci-fi campy humor, the obnoxious five way combo mode and strobe light multiball.

MM has a vastly better wizard mode IMHO, Barnyard multiball and of course the exploding castle.

If you can only have one, you're not really missing that much by not having the other.

SM way different. Change that to MB or CC if you'd like them closer.

MB and CC are way different!

My order:
MM
SM
RFM
AFM

They are for sure. I mean notjihng is going to be as similar as MM/AFM/RFM.
CC seemed similar somewhat to me though. Collecting the ramp/loop shots to light a total annielation type thing. Haven't played it a ton or anything...just my feelings.

MB is more like those than SM is.

#72 11 years ago

RFM is WAY more similar to AFM and MM.
Layout, Humor, Manufacturer...

SM is very different compared to the other 3.

I personally think RFM is better than AFM, but that is also becuase I find AFM to be VERY similar to MM and see no real reason to ever own AFM after already having MM.

If I have to choose 2 to own between MM, AFM, and RFM, I will take MM and RFM any day!

I have a hard time following RFM "better" becasue "you don't need to own" AFM.

Number one MM , but my favorite is. Terminator 2

OK, IMHO RFM is better for ME

Does that work?

AFM and MM are very similar. I already owned MM, so given the choice I took RFM over AFM and hence that is why it is now in my collection.
