What games do you think have the most problems with broken plastics. I vote Whirlwind. That machine is a plastic splattering SOB and you cant find the ones that usually break anywhere!

    SpiderMan
JP (Mine has none if you're curious)
    GNR
    LOTR

I had no idea that so many had the same problems as Whirlwind

    WCS94 plastics and ramps

    #7 7 years ago

    Whirlwind plastics are always broke.

Do new games have the same problems? Do they break alot because the plastic gets brittle with age?

    #10 7 years ago

yep JP always have a few.

and LOTR it's arwin plastic (most of the time)

My vote goes to The Shadow...

Whitewater with those blasted mountains. And of course they don't sell the one mountain everybody needs to replace so you have to buy a whole set.

Pinbot Spiral Ramp - always broken at the top
Comet and Cyclone Ramps - Take alot of abuse
TFTC Plastics - several, Left long plastic breaks at mount, crypt hole plastic breaks, skill shot plastic always breaks (I ended up making repros)
    TSPP - Treehouse ramp entrance
    STTNG - All ramps
Scared Stiff - The slings always break at the mounting screws

    Taxi.

It's next to impossible to find one where the left ramp, or the middle "shoot here to light carry passengers" plastics aren't broken.

And I also don't think I've ever seen a Rollergames where the plastic housing that fits over the ball lock isn't broken.

from what I've heard, they do get brittle with age, and also the buildup of regular playfield gunk/dust on them will also make them more brittle.

There is one plastic that often breaks on Pinball Pool (1979 Gottlieb).
It's the narrow upper portion of the long left side plastic that curves behind the left kick-out hole.
Just a bad design, to have a narrow (weak) plastic in an area where pinballs are flyin in & out.

I second those who said Cyclone ramps and WCS94 plastics & ramps.

Yesterday a ball hit the already chipped Whirlwind blue plastic behind the drop targets and blew a big chunk out of it.Theres almost nothing left of it.

    Space Station.
The third pop bumper plastic and the station toy are usually victims.

Cyclone, pb, wh20, tom, bsd, ss

I dont know how common it is but the R&B I bought didn't have one good plastic. It looked like every singe plastic suffered a hail storm. The lion backbox plastic even breaks on this thing.

It's easier to mention ones that typically don't get broken plastics/ramps.

I'm surprised because the ramps on the WCS94 are pretty solid. The plastics always get eatin around the goal and soccer ball. T2 is probably the worst with the broken hunter ship from cannon airballs, the bottom of the skull, the plastic on the left and right sides of the skull.

Funny, when I saw the title of your thread the first machine that came to mind was Whirlwind.

Someone really needs to run a new set already.

WCS94 plastic under the left ramp ALWAYS breaks! I replaced mine and it was broken again within two weeks......and this plastic is not available individually.

Most DE games due to their overpowered flipper coils.

    pinbot.

helmit plastic usually cracked at screw holes. Ramp plastic on right is usually cracked.

Vortex cracked (although this isn't a plastic really)

Surprised no one has mentioned this one: Fire! Especially anything in the area around the ladder ramp.
