With the recent release of ColorDMD for GNR, it seemed it is necessary to find out which other DE 128x32 games people would like to see colorized first. Vote for multiples if you like.

I look forward to several of these, but for my collection I would like to see Rocky and Bullwinkle first.

Note: Maverick is a large 128x64 display and was only added because there was an empty selection. As of 11/2016, there still is no support for this large display.

I am looking forward to colorized gore. Can't wait to see TFTC in color.

#3 8 years ago

LAH, game is loaded with wonderful dots. Would probably be an extensive project, though.

#4 8 years ago

I don't see LAH being any more difficult than any other machine that has already been colorized. Just need someone to take ownership of it.

Sega...my bad
TFTC!

#8 8 years ago

JURASSIC PARK PLEASE

#9 8 years ago

All of them!

#10 8 years ago

Yes, JP!

#11 8 years ago

all of them

#12 8 years ago

Ok. I may be up for JP. Last year when I got my machine, I wanted it all to look OEM. I liked the nostalgia of the orange DMD. But after playing some other games in color, I wouldn't mind it being in color.

#13 8 years ago

Both JP and TFTC need both now!

#14 8 years ago

Another vote for R&B here.

#15 8 years ago

Wow. Only 10 votes for Star Wars so far. I would have expected it to be one of the top 2.

#16 8 years ago

I'm surprised over Tales from the Crypt. I know a lot of people talk about it, but I don't think I've ever seen one in person before.

#17 8 years ago

All of them. ColorDMD is the best mod out there.

#18 8 years ago

I read elsewhere that they can't do R&B because of the size of their unit and the backbox animations. Don't know if its true or not, just what I read in another thread. Sucks because if any game screams for it its one based on a cartoon.

JP and TFTC pretty much tied at 30 each right now.

#21 8 years ago

JP. I wanna see the goat getting eaten by the trex in glorious color

#22 8 years ago

Jurassic Park

#23 8 years ago

TFTC has the best dots of any game from its era and beyond--I can only imagine what the animations would look like in color!

#24 8 years ago

With the new LED based colorDMD, Rocky and Bullwinkle...

#25 8 years ago

TFTC! Those would be some gruesome dots for sure!

Rocky & Bullwinkle - cartoons were in color, DMD should be too!

WWFRR please.

And BTTF 2.0! (How sweet would a BTTF 2.0 be?)

Good luck with that. You should get started on that project now.

Can I run a CDMD in sigma mode in LW3? Not sure what system LW3 runs.

Yes, once the Tommy display is available, that one would be the one to purchase. You'll have the correct mounting bracket and cables for that speaker panel since it is the same as on Tommy.

ColorDMD just released installation notes for this speaker panel.

If you're not comfortable doing the modification, then you could hold off and wait for the new RGB LED display later this summer that will be a perfect fit. This is assuming you would only want colored DOTS. It will not be able to do the HiRES and SCAN modes that the LCD version can do.

I definitely want a CDMD cause this will be my first one and I would like to swap it from game to game as I get more DMD games so I can see if I want to buy more.

#37 7 years ago

It's not a hard modification to complete the change over to a color DMD! There is a forum on a Tommy color DMD conversion complete with pictures, very helpful! Enough of the Tommy, bring on Jurassic Park and Tales from the Crypt!
Color DMD your the best!

Their LED dmd I'm sure will be just as swappable. Personally, after seeing it in CV, I like it better than the lcd.

But I love that hires mode or scan mode. Whichever one is that smoothing of the dots and looks awesome in games like Simpsons and AFM

#40 7 years ago

I see that they have added 4 new mounting holes to the LCD mounting bracket for Data East pins. For anyone wanting to swap 1 of their existing ColorDMDs to a Data East pin, it looks like you will need a new mounting bracket.

I like what they have done with the power tap so that the power cable will be the same as Stern games.

Currently, the LCD version is the only one available now, which would be the one you would want now. So watch out in future purchases as it might get confusing ordering a display.

#42 7 years ago

chuckwurt, seems your collection list is out of date since LW3 is not even on your list.

Game of Thrones is not currently supported because of the new SPIKE board system that it has. We do not know what the future holds for them at this time.

I hope to see it in color this year. I'm ready to put one in my game.

#44 7 years ago

Just tied up JP and TFTC. Come on guys...JP all the way. Would be the total package with all the mods, new software, etc.

You can order the Tommy display now and install it in TFTC since it has the same speaker panel. That way you can choose any single color you want and upgrade to DOTSXL, 8bit, tiles, HiRES or even SCAN mode. That itself would be an upgrade from the orange plasma display. You would then only be needing the colored file when it gets released.

Nah it's good. Don't have LW3 yet. Haha. Thanks for the info.

Is the DMD not working in that LW3?
Probably not the ideal machine to put a ColorDMD in, but who am I to judge. LOL Everyone likes different titles.

#48 7 years ago

TFTC seems obvious choice really, it could do with some shocking red splats.

Nope. DMD is fine. Don't worry I don't care to ever get my money back on games. They also rarely leave.

Is there a link with more info on this? And will it really be $200? Sounds perfect to me since I really don't like the "hires/scan" look anyway and would only ever use the full-colored dots anyway!
