Just FYI:
I did the artwork for the CPR Centaur Backglass. This title was a "Spot Color" project, meaning Black Ink, Red Ink, White Ink, etc.
However, do to the Heavy Piano Black Background AND the Detailed Illustration in the Center, I decided to Separate these 2 Blacks into separate screens so that we could print the Black Background in a "heavy solid" screen pass, and then print the Center Illustration as a separate pass which would give us a lot more control over the Ink, giving us a much better reproduction in the end.
Turns out that the this process of separating the Black into 2 different screens would have worked out great, however, when the Center Illustration was printed, the ink used was Process Black NOT Spot Black. Process Black ( as well as Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow in CMYK ) is inherently 17% Translucent, thus the Center Illustration came out very translucent as opposed to a nice Solid Black. I never did find out why Process Black was used for this, but it is what it is.....
I have spoken to Kevin about this and we all agree that this glass needs a re-run and the Black Center Illustration needs to be Piano Black, not Process Black.....We will be doing a re-run, however, at this time I have no accurate Time-Frame for it.....
