I am restoring a Quick Draw to sell and bought a nice BGResto from a fellow Pinsider for it recently.

Before I sell the game, it got me thinking that I COULD put the BGResto in the Quick Draw that’s staying in my collection and put the nice repro back glass that’s on my Quick Draw into the one I’m selling.

Both look great and have slight differences in some of the colors. Am wondering if a restored original is considered by collectors as a better way to go instead of a nice reproduction? Or does it really matter?

Here are the two glasses. Can you tell which is which? And which one would you keep?

Quoted from leckmeck:

BGResto is not a restored original. It is a reproduction using a modern printing technology. The Shay reproduction is better and more valuable because it is screenprinted, which is the printing technique used when these games were originally made.

Cool — I didn’t know that!

Can you show both of them lit up? I'm curious how the BGResto and Shay glasses look lit up by comparison.

Yes once the one I’m restoring is ready to power up. Need to put some of the mechanicals back together first.

Quoted from AlexF:

Oddly I expected the Shay to have more accurate colors. Not sure that is the case looking at both examples on their prospective websites. Makes the decision a bit tougher. Still think I'd lean toward a true silkscreen given the option.

Yeah, the two main color differences I notice are the woman’s dress and the Gottlieb logo in the upper right. Minor shade variations in the other parts of the glass, but that’s what I notice at the most.

Quoted from ita47:

I think the top one looks better, the colors are more vibrant. That is the one I would keep. My guess is the top one is Shay's and the bottom one is BGResto.

Correct

The Top is the Shay reproduction, the bottom is the BGResto reproduction. I think I'll keep the Shay on mine and include the BGResto on the one I'm selling. Both look really nice. Thanks for all the input!
