Where’s a nice place to live and safely raise a family that’s not too cold and umm how should I say this...not a congested coastal state but still has a good median income?

Quoted from iceman44:

Welcome to Texas.

Got sugar land on the radar

#29 3 months ago
Quoted from iceman44:

Yep, good choice. Have Galveston and the coast nearby along with everything else to love about the Houston area, except the traffic
Cheap cost of living, no state income taxes and so much more........

Your property tax though...

Quoted from NorCalRealtor:

Following this thread. Leaving the SF Bay Area & California someday is always on my mind.

Half of our listings are people fleeing...

How bout New Mexico?

Quoted from schudel5:

Come to Michigan, they said. Lower cost of living, good wages and jobs, they said. Forgot to mention -20F temps and 100" of lake effect snowfall each year. Oh well. Been here almost 30 years and love it anyways.[quoted image]

I’ve been to Tahoe a couple times to play in the snow. It was like 20 degrees, I almost died

Quoted from o-din:

You don't make this easy. With all your stipulations and don't want cold, crowds, but still want a decent income.
Are you OK with bugs? Lots of bugs?

This isn’t easy at all which is why I turned to the smartest people in the world...

#74 3 months ago
Quoted from o-din:

Well, I've been looking my whole life for what you are asking except I like to be close to an ocean.
Anywhere that is nice and still warm in the USA where you can make a decent living, the secret is out and will cost money. You don't want cold leaves only the most southern states. You don't want bugs eliminate Texas and east of that.
So all that's left is[quoted image]

Wife wants Hawaii bad...I’m too much of a car nut, got transmissions and engines everywhere...damn tire machine in the corner...would have to give all that up

Repulsive isn’t it?

Pacman isn’t joking about that...

Meet the new boss, not quite the same as the old boss.[quoted image]

Who is that?

Christopher Walken?

Quoted from PACMAN:

LOL why are all the Colorado guys saying not to move there? Don't want to share your stash?

Kidding aside...pinside has actually nixed Colorado off my list, and I’ve got a crapload of family there

Quoted from TronGuy:

I’ve been looking at houses in Idaho lately.

Mee too

What do you think about the home prices Literally doubling in just the past 24 months?

Quoted from Reality_Studio:

fishnets and orange hair

Bless your heart...really I mean that.

Pretty much everything you say is true but my counter to you would probably have me banned from pinside & off buying a $200 microphone.

So I’ll just say this...I don’t want my daughters wearing fishnets and orange hair.

Quoted from Nihonmasa:

Switzerland checks all this amd more

Ex-pat sounds fun...how are they treated out there?

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

All I'm getting from this is most people hate where they live.
Except the Texans. Man do they love them some Texas!

You showed up to the party!

There’s some solid info in here in between the grumbling

Tell us about NY

I’ve been watching historical turn of the century footage on YouTube of NY...super cool!

Quoted from jgentry:

Anywhere in middle Tennessee.

Been lookin there too, I want to go hang out with hickok45 and hit the gong

Quoted from snyper2099:

Maybe you should want for them whatever makes them happy, not what makes you happy.

I never was big on fortune cookies...

Quoted from Daditude:

In a mansion.

No way, my dad has a McMansion and the thing is super gawdy and ridiculous with like 4 air conditioners for just his skinny butt...I have a junior McMansion which is still too ostentatious for my liking, I just cringe every time someone says “nice house”.

Only bought this money pit because it’s on a couple acres in a good area and we snagged it at auction when the market was in shambles.

I’m thinking a nice common man ranch style house that would look nice with my Buick out front, brick facade, acreage & shop for all my crap

#357 3 months ago
Quoted from cjchand:

Raising my hand to ask that this not devolve into a political thread. Pretty please
Lots of good info here and would like to keep the momentum going.

It’s been on the brink a few times and always seems to reel itself back it...I’m impressed, thought it would have nuked itself by page 3

Thinking of adding a poll for the top picks

Poll off the top of my head is up
I can add more choices later

Quoted from MrBally:

Reno FTW. My son lives there now and is in the gaming industry. Here's a pic of my late Dad when he & I first visited Reno in 1989. Then my son, standing in the same spot earlier this year when we went for him to find a place to live, get his gaming license and start his on-boarding.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Quoted from SimpleSam:

We really like it, I hope your son does as well. Having a good job is a key to happiness anywhere.
The GSR is a nice property. During Hot August Nights, they have a huge car show and are the host for the free concert.
Speaking of Hot August Nights, that's another great thing about Reno; lots of big festivals. It seems like every other weekend, Virginia Street is closed for a party. This weekend is Street Vibrations and two weeks ago was the air races. There's so much to do.

Reno added to poll

**or not, seems like I can’t edit the poll

Quoted from MrBally:

That doesn't sound like living to me.

It’s really mind blowing...a little cracker box that would be $50k in Michigan can be 2m out here

#445 78 days ago
Quoted from NorCalRealtor:

Where else can I get good weather , not too hot or too cold, no harsh winters, low humidity?

Ha...get ready to start chasing your tail researching 5 different states before you end up right back at Cali or Hawaii

Hence this thread

#453 78 days ago
Quoted from NorCalRealtor:

LOL! I already have. That's why I asked.

If you just want out of the bay, come to granite bay...I’m convinced it’s Cali’s best kept secret...

Plenty of Million plus homes, most with acreage, no traffic, tons of shopping, gun stores everywhere, no Cali weirdos, no gang banger “what you lookin at homes” a-holes, just well to do families, ball players, celebrities (Eddie Murphy has a listing still up I think)
Tons of Mercedes, Teslas, Escalades, rovers driving around, sprinkle in some Ferraris and Bentleys...you get the picture

And the best part is if you ever get popped, Folsom prison is right down the street so you won’t have to move too far.

Quoted from PapaJohn:

global warming especially in Ca.

Don’t worry
The earth will cleanse itself of us starting with Cali and NY...I’ve decided to sell my house and buy the entire state of Kansas for the ocean front property that it will someday be

Quoted from vicjw66:

You know nothing Jon Snow.

Those 2 are together IRL

I wonder if they role play at home
