I've have worked in So Cal a lot (mostly San Diego) and it certainly has nice weather - all the time.
However, I really do need to have seasons (all 4 if possible). It really helps break up the year and I love seeing all the spring and fall colors, and a few light snow falls in the winter. North Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky are my top picks 
EDIT: I like that NC and Virginia have nice cool mountains and great beaches.
