You're going to see it go into a more virtual direction as most games get older to preserve the game itself. I know most don't like the idea of the virtual as opposed to real being born in the mid 70's myself preferring the real but it is what it is.

I actually got back into the hobby by playing Pinball Arcade years back on my Playstation 2. The physics need a bit of work but supposedly have a new improved engine for that coming in the near future with the platform.
