mk6pin and bonnevil69 are making replacement wireforms for the left ramp on Batman 66 to replace the Perspex that came on the game. bonnevil69 AKA Matt from Doom pinball fame, will be making and selling these ramps once tested and complete.

Go to here for more details:

I would be interested, in fact I have already asked a local metal and wire company here in Cheshire if it's something they can do, just waiting to hear back.

#3 2 years ago

I'm WAY interested!!! I really think it only needs to be done where the plastic flap lives. Honestly, once I pitched the game to just over 7, I can't get the ball to fly off anymore, but having a powdered wireform instead of that plastic would really look better ( imho) and be functional, as well.
I've got a local machine shop that will make me anything, but I'd be willing to purchase a replacement ramp, as I can't stand having the game down too long....lmk what you find....mark

#4 2 years ago

On a related note ( sort of), I'm taking my lockdown bar to my local powder coat shop, as I have an idea to ditch that decal, once and for all!!!....will keep you posted.

I really like the game, so for me, worth the effort....

Quoted from cooked71:

If you wanted to get some wireform ramps made, where would you start? What sort of business produces wireform?

I'd start here: http://www.rollingballsculpture.com/

That's Matt Gaulden, habitrails here on Pinside. At least he was here; hasn't been in a couple of years.

If you check his post history, you'll see he's made wireform sets for MM and AFM.

Don't know if he's still interested in recreating pinball machine wireforms, but he's certainly where I would start.

#6 2 years ago

Yea, Wally used him for the medievel madness from scratch..

Also try the op of this thread, he makes his own wireform ramps for Doom:

Yeah the wireform will certainly be functional but more importantly give the pin that premium factory look over the cheap plastic cover.

Hopefully a top only wireform could be made to keep costs down, but that option would certainly require each buyer to attach/weld to their existing ramps.

Complete replacement ramps would get the job done more in a more complete manner and could also be powdercoated in advance in any colour.

Just waiting to see what the company says when they get back to me.

Awesome thanks blackjacker & toyotaboy I'll let cooked71 message those guys as it's his thread, I just happened to be already looking into it and wanted to get this thread seen to see how much interest we might have.

Most small spring manufacturers can do it. As long as you want a 'reasonable' quantity as the machine setup costs are where the money goes not the materials.

Yes, but you need a file to send to them.. and then you still have to weld all the pieces (most spring manufacturers JUST form shapes)

Someone like bonnevil69 can take a sketch and some dimensions, and manually form a ramp.

#11 2 years ago

I'd be interested as well. Would love to ditch the plastic guard.
Will follow this thread.

Possibly in the west this is true. I just give my spring place a sketch with measurements and an idea of what spring strength I want and they come back a week later with some samples. They can also spot weld things together but this is certainly an extra process as you say.

#13 2 years ago

VERY interested in this for my BM66 as well.

Anything is possible in China. If that company doesn't do it, they know a place that can.

Being the black sparkle powder coat on the armor is sort of tied in, I was thinking red sparkle for the habitrail, as well as the bat emblem on the lockdown....think it would look perfect. Can I get it done locally? Absolutely. Expensive as hell for a one off small job? Absolutely.

Hopefully there are enough on here that want to finish the hardware properly, that someone will step up and offer it at a ( somewhat) reasonable price....

#16 2 years ago

Mark, These guys are on the central coast and made my optic fiber ramp clips. You will need a modest volume but they are quite reasonable, can make anything and are very helpful.

Could he make a new guide rail for the left orbit so it was curved more to give a better shot. It is way to straight in the middle.

Way in front of you!!!!....we have discussed several things, all of which will improve the ramp performance, while looking " factory"

#28 2 years ago

very excited to see what you guys can produce here. Definitely 2 trouble spots that will greatly improve gameplay.

#29 2 years ago

Off topic but is their any way he could design a one way gate for the upper middle of the playfeild for ghostbusters as well?

#30 2 years ago

The left wireform is the biggie for me...no doubt that thing can be " finished off" the way I suspect it might have been meant to be....

Are you referring to an entirely new wireform from end to end or just a wireform addition on the top?

It has to be braced more to take the wiggle out, partial cage and pitch adjustment up top, metal at the catwoman entrance, so yep, pretty much a nice, tidy, total replacement. Very excited to get this sorted....

Hi guys. I'm another BM66 owner interested in getting an improved wireform!

#34 2 years ago

Any new info?

#35 2 years ago

One customer ahead of you guys on my list. Then I will start making these. Can I have a count on who's interested so I know how many to make

#36 2 years ago

Definitely interested.
But some pics and approx price range would be helpful :p

#37 2 years ago

Okay. So after a test part is made I will post it I'm sure MK6pin wouldn't mind being the beta tester to get the part correct

+1 for sure.

#39 2 years ago

Just to show I'm not a newb to making ramps and wireforms here are the machines I've made them for. Wrath of Olympus, Buffy, Wizard Blocks, Casino, The Kugler Family, Deadpin, Doom and P3. You have probably seen my work

Sounds great I am in. Could you make a new rail guard for the right orbit as well it is way to straight in the middle and causes the ball to rattle even on clean shots.

#41 2 years ago

If they look as factory/good as the ones that come on the game out of the box sign me up!

Of course, I'm in!!!..pm'd you yesterday, late.....super excited to get started....I know this will be a must have!!!....

I believe they will look more "factory" than the originals, actually. Imagine....no plastic flapper add on....ramp pitched and attached properly so the wiggle is gone, back height corrected ( no more " shim city"). The left ramp will transform from " wiggly smooth" to " fast, solid, and ultra smooth ".

Suspect this will be the best mod that no one but you knows was added.....

If they look half as good as the Buffy wireforms they'll be perfect.

#45 2 years ago

Very interested...Waiting to see the test part
