I have not worked with TAF decals, but I have installed "next gen" decals on a Fish Tales restoration project.
I read that the next gen decals are made using an ink-jet printing process of some type. I believe that most of the older decals were made using a screen-printing process (I have a set of screen printed IJ decals). Overall the next gen decals are nicely done with good color, resolution and texture. The set of screen printed IJ decals I own has richer colors than my next ten FT decals. But that could simply be due to the glossier finish of the IJ decals.
