The wife and I are staying three days in NO and we love the experience and the food but we are looking for things that are off the beaten path. Any ideas.

    Yes!

    Lunch: http://www.turkeyandthewolf.com/

    Dinner: https://www.brigtsens.com/

    For non-typical NOLA food: https://eatwithsaba.com/

Full disclosure, one of my best friends is the bar manager there, but I doubt you will find a more creative cocktail list.

If you want Vietnamese food, this is my aunt

and my uncle owns a Vietnamese fusion restaurant called Ba Chi Canteen

    https://www.facebook.com/bachi.canteen

    Needless to say, highly recommended

Thanks. I looked them up but now I’m hungry and I’m still 2 hours from NOLA

Best restaurant in NOLA is Commanders Palace. You have to dress up to go there though. Very classy and fancy.

Keeping an eye on this thread...we are headed down for Halloween this year.

Ok we did the garden district tour with a guy named Loki and had a lot of fun. He recommended a restaurant called Gris Gris. The gumbo and shrimp and grits is awesome.

ACME oyster house. It's in the French Quarter. Awesome charbroiled oysters!

Also I have to go to Cafe Du Monde when I'm there for a coffee and a beignet even though it's touristy.

Port of Call for burger & a Monsoon (must have): https://portofcallnola.com/
    ^Do Not Miss^

    Cochon in Warehouse District: https://cochonrestaurant.com/

Acme is good on Iberville as mentioned...

If you are near the Riverfront, Central Street Grocery makes muffalettas, half or whole.
A whole one will pretty much feed 2 people.
If you have never had one, I suggest you try that out.
If you haven't had a beignet (French Donut) with some coffee, try café du monde or morning call.

Acme oyster house and saints and sinners on bourbon.

Mr B’s Bistro for the BBQ shrimp.

Amazing what a couple sticks of butter and some spices can do. Delicious!!!

    Lot's of great ideas.

Central Grocery is the best if you like Muffalettas. They don't make other sandwiches so you have to like olive salad. Nobody makes it better! Plan on this for lunch one day. Another place to try for lunch is Mandinas on Canal.

K-Paul's is great for dinner and so is Emeril's on Tchoupitoulas.

+1 Port of call. Classic dive bar, KILLER burgers

You want “off the beaten path” try N7 in the Bywater. Have drinks at Bacchanal first. Bratz Ya’ll is a great outdoor beer garden if you have good weather. If so inclined, there are good pins at Kebab and St Roch Tavern or One Stone on the westbank.

That was before the show. They do not allow photography. They won’t start till phones are put up. It was awesome. Short but great music

That pic is my wife. I downloaded it and changed my mind but i forgot to remove it. The woman just grabbed her and said you need to take a shot. She did this and said that will be 24 dollars.

I keed I keed! Hard to get bad meal there.

How about Willie Mae's, Coop's, or Fiorella's for fried chicken?

Saw another jazz band, a 15 piece band, at Snug Harbor and they were very good. If I didn’t mention it the spotted cat is fun.

Good thread. Keep us updated on your travels.

Go to the Central Grocery and order a Muffaletta, which is big enough for two. Afterwards return to your room, check out and go home because you’ve just had the best sandwich.

    #28 8 months ago

Krewe du Vieux is tonight; I’d highly recommend checking out one of the best parades of carnival season.

    #29 8 months ago

We saw the parade and it
Was short but very interesting. After that it was back to the spotted cat to listen to jazz till the wife was falling asleep. Two young ladies adopted us for their travel companions for the night and hung out with us till about 12. Lots of fun watching and interacting with the different people there. We get to the hotel and there is no ac or potty, they don’t work so they gave us a different, better room and comped the stay. Can’t argue with that.
Home to see our four legged children now
