I did this recently on a personal game.
I used a bolt in the proper diameter, cut to the right length, chucked the head into a drill as a cheap lathe, used a grinder to cut the clip slot, then cut the head in half to reduce weight.
Not ideal but it's far better that the nut/bolt that was there before.
