Where is the KISS code?

Very simple but yes, this would be a great idea.

Maybe reduce the number of cities to around 8.

Even simpler each city gives a note or two for each song.

Every city then has a purpose, without massively altering the game.

I think they only licensed music from that one sort of "greatest hits" album and can't/won't get anything else.

This! The only songs left off "Jigoku Retsuden" Stern could use are I Was Made For Lovin' You, Christine Sixteen, Forever and Do You Love Me.

Does anyone know if it normal for this board to make a kind of background interference sound?

When game on and left on, it just makes a similar sound to speaker interference?

Unplugged all the connectors and re-seated - no difference.

Or is this just another thing to accept with Spike boards?

Similar. Like interference on a radio station.

I unplugged front speakers and dmd so it's not them.

It's intermittent so sometimes it's not there.

But it does come from the CPU board.

Maybe a cable needs shielding in some way?

But you hear it even with the speakers unplugged?

Are you in an older house with this? Do you have all the ground braid making good connection in the machine and backbox and plugged in to a 3 prong grounded outlet?

It's kind of like feedback? Sounds like when you try to tune into a radio station.

Speakers were unplugged. It is intermittent. Plug is fine.

Ground braid - the silver stuff? All factory but can check it.

Put flipper fidelity in.

Didn't disconnect base speaker inside cabinet though.

Was it making this noise before you installed FF speakers? I have them in my KISS and no issues with static etc.

Ok, narrowed it down a lot. Tough to do on intermittent faults!

The noise is actually coming from here.

And the fan is not moving or on when it does this.

Some type of electrical feedback/interference?

Maybe the unit is faulty?

Do they sell versions of these that have silent fans? If I have to swop may as well get a better one!

Great thread as it also shows me how to completely remove the power unit.

However this fault occurs when the fan is off.

There must be some kind of weird feedback occurring in the unit?

Not sure if it's worth removing it and looking inside?

I don't have any experience with the 230V mode of that power supply, so I really don't know what could be causing the sound. Here in the US you can get a new one of these Meanwell RSP-500-48 power supplies for about 80 bucks. But if that's not an option, do you have another Stern spike you can try the power supply from and see if it quiets the problem?

Not sure if Spike 2 games are same but will look.

I did take the casing apart and left it on a few hours and there was no noise.

Co-incidence? Or maybe some kind of electrical interference with casing on. Think I will just have to live with it!

The code doesn’t suck as it stands today, it’s just not up to the standards of their better coded games. If the code update ends up being lackluster I’ll be disappointed, but I’ll still enjoy playing it.

It is actually a really fun game as is. One of my favorites but hopefully the update will complete what is already pretty good in my mind.

Well, if they delayed the release (from early summer to potentially half a year later) becasue the update is 'a biggie' then fine. I mean, ridiculous but fine...

But if the update is just a tweak then this thing will be leaving the arcade (replaced by a non stern) faster than a newly waxed PF.

That never stopped the other Stern games from getting done. All the images in Ghostbusters, AC/DC etc would not be done if that is the case.

I am confident it will get done but it will be a lot of work to figure out the best colors.

I am a few color DMDs behind for my games. But I love kiss and if it came out, it would move right to the top or close to it. I still need to get one for TWD, which looks amazing in color.

Hmm. Hard to be objective here because I grew up loving Kiss.
But these days I love pinball more - and this machine is already bordering on greatness.

It shoots so well, looks gorgeous and is challenging and great fun already. Could it use a little more depth? Hell, yeah!

And i’m guessing that’s coming very shortly..
