I have been battling my wife over facebook time, so this post came into mind.
The question is, Where else do you spend your time on the web?
First and Foremost, is No political or News Sites, Facebook, Youtube, or Porn.

Some of us, might visit other Pin sites, even regional/Country based that others might want to know about.
Others might have another hobby that has a dedicated site to share, while others might have humor sites worth knowing!
    Ill Jump in with mine.

Pinball....Our Local Group...The Village....Where the South East Pinheads hang....
    http://www.villagebbs.com/forum/index.php/board,5.0.html?PHPSESSID=88725889bcefc15fa42f5c1d3a07c458

Daily, I visit Physorg, for an overview of Science and medical news. I enjoy that they cover a wide range of science.
    https://phys.org/

Next is Gizmodo, for everything from Comicon Videos, to new gadgets, to the weird stuff. Its a breather for me, and worth my 5-10 minutes.
    https://gizmodo.com/

Last, is a passion I have for Archeology.....Its deep in my families History and Blood, and along with Paleontology, I just love digging up stuff!

So, where do you spend more time at?..........

    #2 5 years ago

What is this..."time" thing that you speak of?

Well, I guess I also spend a decent amount of time interacting with the vintage SCUBA crowd....

Also spend a lot of time looking up funny pictures/gifs to post on pinside.

    On a more serious note,

Antiquetractors.com -- you guessed it, covers antique tractors.

VintagePowerWagons.com -- Dodge Power Wagon Truck Parts.

IH8MUD.com -- Forum for Toyota trucks, specifically the FJ40 series subforum.

Sometimes check E-bay, not nearly like I used to.

There are also a couple Veterinary specific web pages that get used, but nothing exciting outside of work circles.

Pinside is as close to social media as I get -- No Facebook, Instagram, Face Chat. . . wife does all that stuff. I posted a pinball video to You Tube one time. . . I can never remember all the darn passwords for these places (and no, Im not interested in an app to help me remember ).

    YouTube
Cooking stuff mostly but all kinds of stuff. I find it informative and entertaining.

Most of my web time revolves around tech support or helping people with their pinball machines.

I have zero Social Media presence other then Pinside. So I guess in a way it is my facebook. I'm convinced the Internet will be the downfall of society. I'm tired of the media and particularly the Hollywood agenda. In a world where everyone is over exposed, The coolest thing you can do is maintain your mystery....but what do I know?

Vintage SCUBA? As in old SCUBA equipment? Or old divers? If it's old equipment, can you please provide some info?

The chive - some of the best humor and random posts of the web.

    Ted.com - ideas worth spreading.

    #21 5 years ago

I only go on a few other sites. Craigslist is one, and surprisingly it is never for pinball machines.

The 501ST Legion, a Star Wars costuming site.

Miniature Market, an online game store, and that goes hand in hand with Boardgamegeek which is everything board game related.

I go online at work when I am bored. If I did not have a desk job with lots of down time I would never be on the internet.

    #22 5 years ago

I don’t do much on other websites anymore. Between playing music, 2 jobs and an 8 year old kid, I’m pretty choked for time. Haven’t played Pinball in about s week either

    #23 5 years ago

Besides Pinside, I only read the web on lunch breaks etc. Pro Football Talk and a bit of news.

As for my time online, it’s mostly PUBG with friends for the last year. It’s taken over quite a bit of my Pinball time.

I was wondering what the SCUBA crowd considered vintage? I used to dive in Lake Mead in 1975.

If we are talking about time spent away from the internet. . . I do like to spend time travelling/hiking in more scenic parts of the country. To be fair/relate to the topic I do use the web for location research, maps, park/trail forums, etc.

    IMG_5866 (resized).JPGIMG_5866 (resized).JPG

When I'm at home I spend a lot of time cutting grass. . . but there is an entire other Pinside thread about that.

That is true and to keep my post on topic I use google to search out the real engines and try to duplicate their actual looks of weathering, wear and tear to the smaller scale models.

    Love the view btw!!!

Very nice work. You could crash or blow up one of those in a movie and it would look like a real locomotive.

I also came here to say this. I'm shocked that it's not yet mentioned, despite being the 6th largest website on the planet behind Google, Yahoo, Wikipedia, Facebook and something called Taobao.

It even has its own pinball section.

Do you have a web site or YouTube channel for your trains? They are awesome.

Googling your pinside name + trains is a disaster!

LOL, I'm sure it is as it's actually my gaming handle.

Actually I do or should I say did have a Youtube channel but right now it's set to private and all my videos are currently offline. I'm sure you know the deal, the same ole keyboard commandos what to break balls because how dare you weather engines that costs 500, 2000 etc..... Got tired of the BS drama so I shut it down for now. What I should have done was just disable comments and voting from the beginning, so those who liked to see them and the process could have still watched and hopefully take something away from it that they can now use attempt on their own. I'll open it up again soon, as I'm weathering a shitload of engines now and revamping the layout, shooting some video along the way.

    #43 5 years ago

Its nothing to do with your gaming handle, just that if you Google it with trains you just get a bunch of stuff about people being killed by trains

That's a bummer about your Youtube channel. I like looking at all sorts of stuff that people do with their model trains. There are so many different and cool things you can do. But yeah, some of those railroad hobbyists are a bit off the rails with their opinions and the details and arcane stuff. OMG you modeled the 1976-1978 era but you have a box car that wasn't made until 1982, how dare you! One guy says having brand new clean locos is lame because real ones are not clean like that, the next guy gets all mad because you weathered it! Sheesh.

I originally read this thread as "online" for some reason.

My other main hobby is bowling. I have over a 200 average and I've rolled 4 perfect games. I also coach a high school team. I have so many bowling balls that I lost count. I need to build a better shelf to hold them all.

If anyone wants to talk bowling sometime, just hit me up. I'll gladly talk anything and everything related to it. I'm not a "know it all" so if you wanna talk strategy and you'd have some to give, come at me with it!

I have to say that I spend very little time on the web compared to most folks I know even my age. Other than google scholar to track down work related journal articles, I’d say about 80% of my time online is on pinside and 15% mostly searching for unobtainium pinball parts and 5% other.

Me too. My son introduced me to PUBG and I am consumed. Haven't actively played video games since the Nintendo NES came out around 1986, but this game kicks @$$!!!

On there all the time under this screen name....... however sometimes we do come across hacking which pisses me off to no end as I find they do nothing about it despite sending in the reports along with video.
