    Hi all,

I'm relatively new to modding but not to pins. The LEDs got me back into pins and I've been working on
cleaning my old pins up and fixing little things because they've been sitting for quite a while. I must say,
the LEDs breath new life into them!

Anyway, I'm seeing so many pins lit up with an almost aqua or light blue color LED bulb on the playfield.
I've been getting my bulbs from Titan Pinball, I like the prices and fast delivery but the blue LED bulbs
are a very dark blue and nothing like the videos/photos I see online which are more like aqua/light blue.
Their frosted purple and even pink look closer to the kinds of blue I see online.

So I'm wondering where do you get your bulbs from and do the colors vary a bit from manufacturer?
I ordered some blues from CoinTaker to make a comparison but they are a bit pricier.

And I'm referring to bulbs that protrude (not the flat quad-lights, etc), I've seen these bulbs on
    some of TNT amusement's videos.

    Thanks!

Or, there's a cyan color that may work for you too. It's a greenish blue, I think. Comet should have them.

Just a word of caution. Don't go overboard on colored LEDs for the general illumination. It's easy to do. It can saturate the artwork and make it not as appealing. I've found using various colors of whites (warm, cool, neutral, sunlight, ...) produce the best results when LEDing a game. It's a personal preference... As far as bulb types, I think Comet's OPTIX MAXIMUS bulbs are by far the best for general illumination. Again, just my preference.

www.pinball.center I like frosted bulbs that are frosted transparent . Not Opaque " Not able to be seen through ; not transparent .
I also like a wide color spectrum like 'turquoise color' ' Teal blue ' or 'Teal green'
You need to surf the website to see the image of colors . This the German Flux style . Very good for STERN clear inserts like LOTR but may also be used in inserts that are decaled / painted .

How about SMD levels? Is 1 SMD or 2SMD better? How about flashers, 5 SMD or 8 SMD?

Surface Mount Diode 'SMD' are great for inserts. But if used for GI most (not all) will sit (flush) with the playfield and there reflection may catch eye .

Thanks for the advice everyone. That's exactly what I was looking for! And I agree with Allibaster that when people go overboard with LEDs they ruin the machines, I've seen some awful examples, like a Black Hole with red and green superbright LEDs on the backglass! I just want to add a little flare to some areas of my playfield and your suggestions above seem to be what I was looking for.

Ice Blue also comes in dimmable strips.
When mixed with the white in GI, it can successfully be blended, if a single bulb spreads it too much.

Comet 2smd frosted are the best pinball bulbs in my opinion

Are these 2835 Twins you are mentioning? I do not see a straight 2SMD Comet frosted, just fluted etc non-frosted clears. The Twins have 2 1SMDs in them and can be bought frosted...

A poem was added to my order slip by Comet:

    ************************************
Thanks so much for your order! It reminded us of our favorite Beatles song:

    Yesterday
All my machines seemed so dark and grey
    Incandescents have become passé
    My LEDs, came yesterday

    Suddenly
I'm now using half the energy
No more shadows left that I can see
    My LEDs, came suddenly

    Old bulbs, had to go
And I'll throw, them all away
    Bright-ness, is so strong
    I don't long, for yesterday

    Yesterday
It was something I could barely play
Now I'll need more hours in every day
My LEDs, are here to stay

My LEDs, are here to stay"

    ************************************

I hafta say, it's quite a customer service achievement when "My LEDs, came yesterday" for an order I made today.
