Yep - "Frank Fuhrter" - the human red tide.

Yep. He ended it. It was well on its way before him, but damned if he didn’t thrust the knife.

... Hello O-Din where ever you are ...

    #303 5 years ago
    Quoted from delt31:

Let's not bs people here and say this guy really wanted a Thunderbird and wasn't spamming the market place ad.
This entire drama filled nonsense thread can be simplified like this - if you're going to spam the marketplace, be ready to be modded.

I don't think one WTB ad is "spamming". Even if Odin was being snarky, I don't see the harm in what he did. I'm guessing he really would like a Williams Thunderbird given his collection. Moderation isn't always easy. I've been moderated when I clearly deserved it, and when I feel it was not warranted. I've gone unmoderated when I clearly deserved to be as well. It's not the end of the world to be moderated. Try not to take it too personal.

It is by definition trolling. He’s doing something disingenuous purely to invoke a response.

    Trolling perhaps, but spamming, no.

Trolling isn't always a bad thing. What was the harm? If anyone was upset about what he did I would say to lighten up.
I mean, were talking about Thunderbirds for christs sake.

Its pretty simple really. If someone is being a total A$$hole or threatening to other people then they should be moderated. If someone is posting pics that are too risky for a family friendly forum then they should be moderated, but if someone is trying to be funny or maybe rag on someone a little bit and its all in good fun then for God sakes leave them alone and let people have fun and laugh a little bit. Its like you’re always walking on egg shells around here seems like. People shouldnt be moderated for trying to make this a fun place. Just because someone gets offended by someone elses posts doesnt mean that they have a right to be offended. Maybe they they just need to man up and quit being such a baby. Let Pinside be fun!!

I’ve been unfairly moderated before. One Pinsider I ended up putting on ignore as I couldn’t take his out of whack ego anymore. Just before that he and I butted heads in a thread and I got moderated for stating a persons name in a remark.

The fact that THAT name was in credits for a tv show didn’t matter. Whatever. I moved on. Other than my ‘colorful’ language and old school view of feminism I rarely evoke trouble.

The moderators here are good folk and Robin chose wisely.

Old school views of feminism will quite often evoke trouble.

Yep. I’m a yes ma’am/ hold the door open guy. Behind every man is a woman rolling her eyes. Women and children first.

    What a creep I am...

    Quoted from NimblePin:

Hey, I did the very same thing last night!
That’s super nice of you to do the same today DCRand!
Where are you guys going to eat?
Are you hittin’ up Naugles, or is ol’ Spidey in the mood for some Pup ‘N’ Taco after his late night bender?
Maybe I can meet up with you guys...

Sorry, I was quoting a post and deleted some of the text, in re-reading now, totally changed the post to look like I was taking him to dinner. My apologies to you and to Odin. Guess if I ever get to So Cal again, owe him a dinner.

What's fun for you isn't fun for everyone. Everyone had the right to be offended about anything they want. We don't have the right not to be offended.
There is a huge grey area around moderation, as is necessary. If you feel like you're constantly walking on eggshells then you're tiptoeing the line of acceptable behavior and it's appropriate for moderators to encourage you to behave more appropriately using whatever tools they have. Without the grey area around the moderators judgement you'll have some users being as annoying as possible without actually crossing the line of bad behavior.
If a poster's goal is troll as much as possible without being kicked out that's not beneficial to the community.

Bill Grigsby, a long time annoucer for the Kansas City Chiefs, had one of the best quotes. Behind every successful man was a surprised woman. Too bad he passed away a few years ago.

I have so many puppet accounts here, that most of the time I'm just talking to myself....

I don't disagree with you, or old school feminism. I'm just saying we're in the #metoo age.
Of course, in my day # was the symbol for pound, which would completely change the meaning of the movement.

Hopefully Odin is gone from the forum and actually enjoying his life. SPending loads on time on here has to be bad for ones health.

    #329 5 years ago

Pinside would be a pretty quiet place if we all had Odin's courage to quit the forum cold turkey

    #330 5 years ago

He is off playing Metallica! His favorite game. Lol

This site is really brutal, but there are ways to avoid lots of the BS.

Just look at how many people block me! Your 1st amendment right.

pretty sure thats human nature, most forums are the same.

The actual most miserable place on the internet is youtube comments / celebs twitter feeds, you really start to wonder how the human race will survive when reading some of those :/

That brings back some memories. Many a game I taped got cutoff near the end, or else record in slp and get a really crappy video quality.

Whatever he did, it's just pinball. No big whoop. Toss your hat back in the ring.

Some people would realize the only way to pull this off in 2019 is completely unplug and stay off the grid or they are gonna find out who won.

    Yeah, sorry Travish
