I have no issue with 3d printed parts in a pin when they are not subject to stress breaks. Airballs will induce a lot of stress.
Alien has 3d printed parts but those are used for light filtering walls and not likely to break.
I think any long/thin plastic piece will be "known to snap when hit with an airball", haha! I've seen many Tesla Towers and Oompa Loompas lying face down on a playfield...
