Check out this video for a few of the tricks on PM. This is now my mom's exact machine as we got it from Fatsquatch. Whenever you get to the stage and are not in the mode to make the ball levitate, the curtains open and the ball falls directly into the bumper area, and is quite active for having just the one bumper.
More gameplay, with the levitation at about 1:45 and bumper action at about 2:10.
