I play the machine, not an LCD screen.
(Do not care about a TV monitor on my machine)

    YMMV.

    Quoted from Crash:

People have reported that the LCD on WOZ is drawing people in like droves on location.

    Because it looks different, period.

Its similar to having a row of all black cars and one red one , the focus shifts to the different looking one. WOZ in a row of conventional pins gets attention becasue it looks different. Flashing beacons / police lights and voice call outs in attract mode work the same way. Get peoples attention and then get their money.

I know of one op that had a broken ( turned off ) system 11 game on location and turned completely off it still earned $25 a week. Maybe a working LCD and a broken game would double it......

    Quoted from Crash:

Stern has brainwashed folks I guess!

The inverse could also be said for JJP, I guess!

(Like waiting years for a game?)

    Quoted from Crash:

The difference is Stern can do better.

When Sterns delivery window hits years waiting I would agree.

    Quoted from txstargazer3:

Two years ago, a lot of folks thought LEDs would never come standard on Sterns. .

LED's are a direct replacement for existing lights and flashers so its a simple swap.
It also is easier in theory on the GI circuits and less heat.

Once the cost of LEDs dropped it really is a no brainer.

    Quoted from tbanthony:

I really enjoy the WOZ LCD compared to the outdate DMD on Stern, but realistically Stern isn't going to launch LCD unless forced to. They will prep the capability but only really make the investment if they feel they have to. Folks vote with their pocketbook. If JJP really starts to eat into Stern sales, then Stern make the shift to compete. In time for Star Wars is all I hope.... otherwise, I'll be hoping JJP gets the Star Wars license.

Once the cost of gas plasma displays keeps climbing or a supplier drops manufacture & availability then Stern would likely source a replacement. Personally I like the color displays far better then the huge monitor but to each their own.

If op's are buying games its a unit cost and return on investment decision. If WOZ proves to earn better than what Stern is selling its attractive but then the game initial cost gets factored in as well.
Delivery time on equipment orders is also part of the purchase equation.

    Quoted from vid1900:

Those LED replacements are already available to replace plasma, as Europe does not allow those non RoHS displays.

Yep but the cost is still high which is the only downside.

    Quoted from Crash:

JJP is actually innovating and moving the hobby forward.

    Innovation?
How many patents did WOZ get issued???

Moving forward I will agree but at a couple years wait and 50'ish games a week that is not really taking over a massive amount of market share with a trickle of new games and people still waiting.

You like it, a lot of people like it, we get it.
Its a stretch with some of the accolades being tossed around not based on any real data.
Let it run on location for a year then be honest about its success or failure objectively.

    Quoted from Part_3:

There is no downside to an LCD.

Unless you happen to like some level of artwork or graphics.

    Quoted from Part_3:

Who says it has to be JJP size?

    .......never did.

That is a Microsoft 8 ball.....

    Quoted from zod:

Unless pinball and video games kinda merge what is the point of LCD? Does WOZ even have a video mode? I think it would be cool to have LCD and incorporate more video modes into pinball but other than that don't see the need.

Big LCD panels are great if you want to watch the weather channel.
Some people focus on the silver ball.
