No game will be packed like POTC again. JJP has made the decision to cut in order to help the margins. The good news is that it's still leagues above stern. Just don't expect GnR to compete with POTC. Just look at Wonka and set your expectations accordingly meaning it will have enough but the days of a pirates is over.

Not to say it can't be better than pirates but as far as being stuffed.... Becomes a manufacturing nightmare and jjp has to get these damn games out which is why you saw success with Wonka

    Quoted from LTG:

More than that. I don't know where those are in the mix. If at all.
Last year everybody expected Toy Story at TPF - JJP showed WOZ Yellow Brick Road. Everybody expected Toy Story at MGC - JJP showed Willy Wonka : Where did that come from.
Things can change, like when they skipped a couple titles because they got the Hobbit license. So only JJP NJ knows what is going on and what will be next.
I read all the rumors here on Pinside like everyone else. But nothing is for certain until JJP announces it or shows it.
    LTG : )

    GnR is for certain

    Quoted from konghusker:

Exactly what I’ve been thinking. Everyone keeps saying Wonka is the new expectation, and that no more wide body games due to cost. Seriously people it was one game stripped down by jjp standards. The last game was a super packed widebody. I see no “trend”.

Let's just say it's been confirmed by insiders apparently ; ) This will be the trend going forward unless people stop buying. I still think you get a lot for your money compared to stern but pirates will likely set the bar.

    Quoted from Adipocere:

    "Confirmed apparently."

That’s right. The only time I would say confirmed is if I saw it with my own eyes

    Quoted from Snailpin:

Here's why JJP will pull it off:
The Not in This Lifetime... Tour is a concert tour by hard rock band Guns N' Roses, spanning from April 1, 2016 to August 26, 2020.
The tour has been a financial success, grossing over $563.3 million, making it the third-highest-grossing concert tour of all time.
More than five million people witnessed Guns N' Roses' Not In This Lifetime tour during the trek's lengthy run.

It's like people live under rocks. Thanks for reminding folks how popular they are.

When a band has absolute classics that are still played commercially today, they don't need another song ever.

    Quoted from wolfemaaan:

A successful tour does not equate to a good pin. A good pin equals a good pin.
Putting flowers and new movie on top of Ghostbusters doesn’t make it good.
Now if you mean people are going to buy the pin based on current interest in the bands live shows, that may be true and would be a success for JJP (and that’s good thing of course).
You could say Supreme is a successful pin because they sold out. But it straight up sucks, like Spider-Man HD
So again, hoping JJP pulls it off, if so I’ll be NIB’n one next to my DE GNR. But I’m having a tough time thinking what they could do with this band and music from 25 years ago in 2020

Yeah not saying it's good bc of that just saying they're popular and relevant still

    #362 4 years ago

You know JY64 - that's a great point. GnR is not relevant b/c the last two albums sold significantly less - one being a cover album and the other not even being produced by the full band.

I'm happy someone like JY64 exists on these boards. Tries to make a point, get that jab in based on something anyone with half a deck would say - wow that's just completely wrong and not even in touch with reality. You have one of the most successful bands ever and literally someone (in the same topic) just posted the INSANE sales on their last tour which factually proves how relevant they are but no.....JY64 goes into the wiki page and pulls out an absolute irrelevant fact and tries to make a point....and fails.

    haha - well done.

    #368 4 years ago
    Quoted from JY64:

I find it best to back an argument with facts not opinions

Ok I'll bite one more time.....

I agree with that strategy - which is why your point makes no sense. There were facts posted about their incredibly lucrative recent tour which hello...you who...means people paying money to see the band and hence their relevance right now. Your facts talked about two albums out of their entire all star catalog, with one that wasn't even the band.

If you can't see that point and where your gap in logic is, there is no saving you. Sorry.

    Quoted from wesman:

POTC is beyond excellent in the modern era, and it's not JJP's fault people get sucked into lesser games.
Anywhere I go, I'm glued to JJP games. On free play, full pay, what have you. And I own 2 of their 5 games, and still prefer them by far to any modern era pins.

wesman which is exactly why you want to sell me that pirates! ; )

Jjp really does make great games. They definitely feel and look high end

    #392 4 years ago

I agree that this was simply a BOM thing but can you imagine if they had that mech in there too? Talk about over the top. Respect the hell out of JJP for even attemtping it.

    Quoted from JamCat:

True, they definitely won't do it until after the novelty of GnR runs its course for a few months. But it sounds like they might at some point. It may be expensive to produce, but they have already invested the money in the design and license which is the hard part. They already know they can sell a new edition for 11.5k all day long. I'll be watching closely. I'm betting that a new run comes out early 2021 in between GnR and the next title. Then I will be mad if it's better or happy that I can finally get parts!

As an owner as well, you know if there is a rerun it's going to be a YBR edition style cost of 11.5. No question. Then you run the risk of them stripping down the game. If YBR didn't come out I would say no way in hell that's possible but Jack has already reissued an older game at a much higher price, stripped out features and didn't blink an eye.

Pretty risky to sell Pirates and either be completely left out with no rerun OR a rerun that is very expensive and not as loaded. If I were to sell mine, it def wouldn't be b/c of a potential rerun.

Stern is about to announce tmnt. Things are in motion.

Where is that jjp hype? Let's go Jack!

    #512 3 years ago

If the innovation is wireless updates it would be a huge letdown. I’m expecting more.

    #556 3 years ago
    Quoted from colonel_caverne:

Like a spinning disc with magnet on TMNT.....and X-men 8 years ago?

Yeah don't rely on Stern to innovate. Nothing on tmnt is innovative
