I think JJP will have the last laugh.

    #952 1 year ago

Hoping they have Superman 78, or muppets, goonies, Indiana Jones, transformers 86 movie, he-man, Batman/Batman returns, princess bride, King Kong. What could be next

    #953 1 year ago
    Quoted from konghusker:

    What could be next

What everyone has been waiting for, of course... Elton John!

I think Muppets could be the great theme for JJP with a perfect mix of adult/kid humor and just open creativity without being tied to a specific movie or show. Of course, the obvious Statler and Waldorf interactive topper making fun of you with pinball jokes and puns as you brick shots would sell themselves!

    Muppets would kick ass.

My dream pin is Futurama and I think JJP would do a great job assuming someone on the design team is a super fan. I hope JJP does it...it's only a matter of time before someone does.

    #957 1 year ago
    Quoted from SLAMT1LT:

I guess all bets are off now. Always thought JJP was a kiddie company only making kiddie themes. Glad to see them produce an adult theme (but Godfather, seriously?).
I hope they can survive this poor decision and pay closer attention to what the buying public want... no one asked for Godfather (and 80% of a recent poll stated they are not interested in buying).
Listen to the masses, this is what they want (and will pay handsomely for):
    Back to the Future
    Jaws
    The Matrix
    Evil Dead
    Mad Max
    The Goonies
    Van Halen
    The Muppets
    Wednesday
The Last of Us (gaining heat but will soon be scorching hot)
    ...to name just a few.

Someone wrote up a great pin idea fighting gangs along the way, trying to get back to Coney Island. The callouts, pics, scenes I just can’t think of a better theme for pinball.

    Quoted from Ericpinballfan:

Try to avoid running into gangs by completing objectives as you move through NYC, trying to keep the warriors gang together while trying get to Coney but if you fail, you run into a gang. And your gang can get separated various ways. Each gang fight involves a soundtrack song and multiball... You get 1 ball per warrior. complete multiball objectives to defeat the gang, add warriors, and stay alive to keep the warriors together All while the DJ call outs navigates you like the movie.. segments on your journey within the city has mini game modes, where you play to collect weapons for your next fight and reunite with missing warriors for the next gang fight. Mystery spots weapons, random modes start add a warriors to the team (virtual locks for next for multiball), etc. Plenty of fun and surprises with this pin.

JJP is looking for ways to scale up production, their goal is to be on track to release two titles a year which may or may not happen this year.

Well, at 12 and 15 grand a machine they will be selling a lot less.
So maybe they can get on track for a second game come expo, but I dought it.

Not sure but my information came directly from a JJP employee.

Jack has been saying it in seminars for at least 3 years now.

    #971 1 year ago

Cool. Maybe this is that year?

    #972 1 year ago

I think they technically did it already with Toy Story and Godfather didn’t they? Wasn’t it like 9 months between the two? Obviously not in the same calendar year, but similar accomplishment IMO. I thought I remember Eric mentioning something about it at his talk at TPF but I could be wrong. Hopefully a new machine every 8-9 months is possible. When a new JJP is announced, it feels like a special time...even more so with Steve’s game in the pipeline.

    #973 1 year ago

Not to long ago stern released rush, isnt that enough?

I want jjp to do a widebody loaded coco.
Coco is awesome. Great music, scenes, story etc etc.

    Elton John or Prince?

    #976 9 months ago

    Prince?

    #977 9 months ago

Agree, I was gonna say Prince… he’s known for the color purple and the sparkles.

I’m not a super fan, but I’d put my money down on that guess.

    #978 9 months ago

anybody but elton. great artist, but we been down that road.

    #979 9 months ago

“Count down to launch”… get it (Wish it was prince but all signs signal Rocketman)

It’s still going to be Elton.

    Get your purple glasses ready:

And get ready for the Bennie pops

    “B-B-B-Ben-B-B-B-Benni-B-B-B-Bennieeee and the Jets”

Whoever had that idea, it’s a good one. Can’t get it out of my head

    #981 9 months ago

Countdown to launch….it will be the rocket man. Anyone want to make a bet that there will be a stand up target in the game that if you hit it a few times it starts a multiball?

What do you care your not buying it no matter what it is!!

And talk about cost cutting... now their selling pins with no balls.

Curious how relevant of a theme Elton John is these days. For me, it's a hard pass no matter how good the game is. Theme doesn't do anything at all for me unfortunately.

    #988 9 months ago

Count down to lift off, OMG my little pony is finally happening!!!!

It’s Elton the rocket man 100% though. Betting on some pretty cool ramps, and a lot of sparkle on the CE playfields

Whoever is deciding themes at JJP is making some odd decisions. Godfather was a weird pinball theme and Elton John feels even weirder. I feel bad for distributors that are already sitting on stock of Toy Story and godfather… now they will have a bunch of Elton John’s. I’m just confused about who they are making this for - the crossover of Elton John mega fans and pinball collectors has got to be pretty small.

    #990 9 months ago

Of the possible rumored games I would’ve like to have seen The Matrix. Rocket man psychedelic art with his best songs for each mode could be fun!

    #991 9 months ago

I bet the CE is going to look bonkers!

    #992 9 months ago

I’m just most curious on how Steve designs this. A fast flowing Elton theme doesn’t really make sense to me. I’m picturing really cool ramps swirling around, psychedelic light show, and a piano.

    Quoted from Eeeek:

I bet the CE is going to look bonkers!

It’s gunna be blinged out to the max in full Elton style!

I still wonder about the three surprises at Expo. ( Guesses on #3 welcome )

#1 - a new pinball machine, rumors abound yet hint to Crocodile Rock.

    #2 - jjp Insider Connected ?

#3 - Butch and Lloyd returning to jjp with new owner.

    Quoted from DaveB:

Going on record (Internet is forever) I severely doubt this will ever get remade for two reasons. They all but abandoned the code and the most important piece is it was a support nightmare for them (based off the official thread). Maybe Lloyd could comment on it, but I've never seen the guy bash a title which makes him awesome. The warranties are well expired and now JJP has no liability/responsibility. I don't see them wanting to re-open Pandoras box.

And a legal side question - I've been working with AI voice replication. It's not perfect but damned if it can't be super close! Would JJP (or any manny for that matter) be under any legal obligation if they were to use AI for call outs instead voice actors? I don't see why they would be. If there was a way like there is with pinsound to add your own audio I would scramble/clamor for a POTC. I wasn't a fan of the voice actors (or the clear coat debale lol).

    #1000 9 months ago
    Quoted from CLEllison:

Maybe Lloyd could comment on it, but I've never seen the guy bash a title which makes him awesome.

I don't see jjp remaking it. New place isn't set up for wide bodies, and was their most difficult game to manufacture. Tech support was up a bit, maybe because of some manufacturing issues like too tight a harness under the black pearl. No where near the WOZ light board tech issues, or USB updates when ever a new up date came out. People often messed that up. WiFi updating really helped with that.

Now I did bash the Big Lebowski when it was coming out in one of my seminars at Expo. Someone asked what I thought of it and I said I thought it sucked.

I wasn't referring to title or game play. I was referring to when they had two games at Expo and two games at TPF, the first time. Both games were dead in the water after a half hour for the duration of the show.

My comment was that I thought a game that cost $10K ( at that time ) and didn't last a half hour, sucked. Heaven help anyone that bought one then.
