Nice to see some love for Teacher's Pet in this thread. In no particular order:

Teacher's Pet

Yes, I know that is six and not five.

Gottlieb Buccaneer
Gottlieb Surf Side
Gottlieb Queen of Hearts
Bally Fireball
Williams Big Daddy

Added over 4 years ago:

I mean to type the woodrail Buccaneer from 1948 not the one from 1976

#22 3 years ago
Quoted from Rat_Tomago:

Gottlieb Buccaneer
Gottlieb Surf Side
Gottlieb Queen of Hearts
Bally Fireball
Williams Big Daddy

I always liked Buccaneer. Probably as much as El Dorado.

I might be getting a really roached Surf Side in the near future. I think it depends on how anxious I am to take on a major project. But if I could get it restored and nice and playing again it would definitely be a good feeling.

#23 3 years ago

Balls A Poppin' - best multi-ball, and in a woodrail, at that!

Card Trix - love the challenge of getting to the specials, and the double roll-over special on the Ace lane is kinda magical

Bow and Arrow - I like spinners, and this one is especially well-integrated in game play to maximize the side kick-out hole bonus

Majorettes - Fun to light the sequence, and especially challenging since the last bumper is BEHIND the flippers

Gottlieb Paradise - Lots going on - I like the conglomeration. Target sequence, cascading kick-out holes with variable values based on under-playfield roto, first return lanes, plus backbox animation.

Didn't list a drop target game, as tough to choose between El Dorado / Fast Draw / Atlantis / Jacks Open - each has lots of drops with it's own unique feature

#24 3 years ago

I'm partial to Gottlieb games, but not in order:

El Dorado
C37
High Hand
Atlantis
Bally Mata Hari- Dono at Pinfest last year brought his. Amazing!

With only 1,100 produced I'd have to play one at a show. Assuming we have pinball shows going forward!

No its actually meant to draw attention to other titles that sometimes get overlooked because most small EM owners either dont have the room for new games or the $ for a wide selection. Thats my point of the post at the start

#38 3 years ago

Great choice of the Williams Honey pin!
My wife and I had a blast playing that one at Free Gold Watch in SF several years ago.
I was really surprised by how much fun it was.
Haven't seen another one anywhere since then.

That is true with any pin poll and especially the Pinside Top 100 for modern games.

I did vote for all games that I currently own. I've owned a bunch of EMs over the years and my current keeper crop are mostly games that I have sought out and hunted down rather that just games I picked up at garage sales or on Craigslist. Having played at a bunch of shows, collector houses, Silverball Museum and the PHOF in Vegas alerted my to games that for some reason I am drawn to. Teacher Pet and Dodge City were games that I searched over a year for each. C37 was another and I feel lucky to have gotten that one considering how hard they are to find.

I gotta amend my list: Big Daddy just nosed out Space Mission!

This!
I started with whatever I could get, and traded and searched and played and have finally mostly found what I like. Occasionally, my brother O-Din will find something tasty I haven't played and pique my interest, or I will find something mighty fun at a show, that makes the wishlist...

If you look at my wishlist there are still em's i'm looking for (couple of Keeney games haven't made the list yet).

One of my five is one I don't own: Balls a Poppin!

Amended list:
Teacher's Pet
Heat Wave
Expressway
Balls 'a' Poppin'
Big Daddy
Honorable Mention: Oh Boy. This one only makes the list if you're playing a 2-player game. Otherwise it drops to top 10.

Not a big Wedgehead fan. They are mostly too similar for me and Gottliebs are a pain to work on. I do like World's Fair and Subway a lot! And there are a few old Gottlieb woodrails I wouldn't mind owning... but being 59 years old, I've played a lot of em's, and I know what I like.
Lotsa Honorable Mentions:
Old Chicago
Fan-Tas-Tic
Grand Prix
That old racecar one with impulse flippers that O-Din used to have
Riverboat
Dodge City
Triple Action
Double Barrel
Pretty much anything designed by Steve Kordek

Surf champ: "a well-balanced game"
Spirit of 76: "This hole is famous"
Fireball 72: "Deep rules for that time"
Slick Chick: "very nice and addictive"
Surf Side: "very interesting to play for two"

You are about the tenth person to mention getting pins at garage sales over the last few days. Personally, I have never seen one at a garage sale...and I've been to a LOT. Of course, I still haven't ever gotten a free game either.

I feel like I have been gypped from the pinball fairy.

I did have Space Odyssey and Heat Wave but no longer do so, liked Space Odyssey as there is a lot going on but Heat Wave only lukewarm too. Teachers Pet looks interesting as another Williams with a lot going on but have not had a chance to play or obtain yet.

I have only seen 1 pin at a garage sale...Bally Air Aces. It was mint and I bought it for 300.00. Traded it for a Gottlieb Ice Revue.

That was a good day.

Stern "Pinball"

I meant the woodrail Buccaneer from 1948. Not the 1976 version. It might sound crazy but I miss the 1948 Gottlieb Buccaneer the most. Simple. fun and addictive game.

Get that Surf side because it is so much fun to play with 2 players. It is boring as watching paint dry with one player. Its that game you either setup in a special corner or just set it up when you hold a party or event.
