You can. First one is the hard one. After that, it's easy.

I should get rid of some of the folded up ones to make room to setup others. Its just hard to let them go.
Let me know if you ever want to get rid of your Trek, TFTC, or Royal Flush Deluxe!
My current ratios: 6 set up my house / 2 set up in friends houses / 2 folded up in storage.
Hoping to increase category 2 at the expense of category 3, as category 1 is maxed out.
16 Setup, 8 on location, 15 folded. Ugh, counting the folded pins makes you think.
Making plans to turn half of my 30x40 outbuilding in to a heated and cooled shop, so soon all will be setup. Getting pretty excited about that
Quoted from tamoore:You can. First one is the hard one. After that, it's easy.
Maybe for some. Some of my easiest were the first ones I let go. Once you get to the nitty grit, and then get others you want, that's where the real heartache comes in.
0/16. Still waiting for insurance company to rebuild my basement following a sewer backup. It's been 3 months now. Have a few I can play in the garage, but it's just not the same.
Right now I'm 4/0. A month and a half ago, I had been 5/0 for five years, before that I was 0/4 for a year and 0/2 for four years before that.
Question for you guys who have more than 15 games set up in your homes - what's your secret? Do you use the bedrooms, dedicate an entire floor to pins, or have an outbuilding? I'm genuinely curious.
If I could do it all over again, I'd have left the basement unfinished so that my family had no interest in it, and put the home theater and my office upstairs.

I use my 35x25 gameroom

Outbuilding. Still have room for a total of 46 pins, ball bowler, bathroom and workshop.

As I said in my post... Pins are in the living room (who needs a "formal" living room, we spend more time in there now with pins than we did before), dining room (pretty much wasted space before, only got used 1 or twice a year), family room (this is where we still have couch and chair, and where we spend time anyway, usually only 1 pin here unless we are having a party, then we take the furniture out and bring in more pins), furniture is in storage... there are 15 in the basement at the moment (if I get rid of 2 videos I could get more down there 20 or more will fit with rearranging), but as I said once I get to remodel (like I want to just waiting to win the lottery! ) there will be more room there as well as another game room for more pins, and our pool table can come out of storage and get set back up as well!

I have a mostly unfinished basement, but with area rugs and wall treatments, it has a very arcade-ish feel with all the games and pins in it. There is one storage room left that I plan to turn into an EM room. When this is complete, I'll have room for about 5 more pins.

Sell it, you know it's never coming out It took me a long time to sell mine, which was never played in lieu of the pinball machines. I completely refinished mine before I got into this hobby, so it was hard to let go of, but once I ripped the band-aid, it was a huge chunk of space back and relief, even though it did look good when not being played.
And yes Mike, I know I said I'd never sell.

I gutted the 1 bedroom apartment in my basement when I bought my house.
Lots of space now.

You got me on a technicality , Millipede needs a monitor rebuild ( cap kit ).

Selling my pool table was the best thing I ever did as I hated having to find reason to move a game out in favor of bringing in a new one. I was so relieved when I sold it in October 2011 and figured I wouldn't have space issues for at least a year. Yeah right, added 5 more pins by December 2011 and I was out of room again
We have 3 spare rooms, a living room and a dining room upstairs...I need to be a lot more assertive about taking over the basement.

That's why I actually talked myself out of buying a bigger house, if I have a basement that could hold 50 the way I buy, I would be there in zero time.

That's the best quote in this thread.
I'm 8/0, up from 7/1 a week ago. I try to only have one non-working machine at a time. After some hard work last weekend, El Dorado is now up and running.
Not counting Bally Hoo and Baffle Ball and my other 30's counter pins:
21 / 13 (11 not set up and 2 in transit)
I should be at 24 up by end of September, but planning to sell some games to get the stored number down to 2 or 3.
Our newly finished basement was going to be all pinball, but we added a bar, game table and theater, so there's no place for a lot of the EMs.

No...It has been in Hubby's family since the early 60s, and I refinished it completely when we moved in here. new felt. new leather pockets, all the wood stripped and re finished etc. Hubby really wants it back up. So that is incentive for us to get the remodel done!!

Quoted from Butterflygirl24:NAHHH Shrekman!! I'm the same way...once I restore them, there is too much blood sweat and tears in em to let em go easily!! I have 30/7/3/8 30 are set up in my house (various rooms furniture is in storage) 7 are torn down in some level of restoration. 3 are folded up in storage waiting there turn...and 8 are projects that haven't even made it on the back burner yet. One day their time will come!!

Hey Phoebe.
I'm not sure if I should take your advice anymore. You get me in trouble. You turned me on to the ColorDMDs when they were first coming out and now I have 10 of them installed.
3/0 now, soon 4/0 when MMr arrives. I hope I'll always be able to have all my pins up & running and none in storage, but we all know how this hobby goes...
12/2
Yes to climate controlled. Folded up in my office downstairs waiting for time to restore...
Jaz
Quoted from PINBELL:For those that have some folded, do you keep them climate controlled?
Depends on where they are in the restore process if they are pretty much done, then they usually are at the house so basically yes, but if they aren't even started in the process yet they aren't...But I never leave a BG in a stored pin, even if it is in my garage!! They stay climate controlled!
Phoebe
5/0 but it's pretty easy with only 5 and a basement.
Actually with all the crap I have in my basement I only have room for about 1 more. Hopefully that might change down the road (possibly moving). If we do move I have my eye on a place that has a massive finished basement. 5-6 pins would look tiny. Could easily do 30+ down there but I'm guessing the WAF will be more like 12 max
Quoted from PINBELL:For those that have some folded, do you keep them climate controlled?
Absolutely.
