Have anyone here had this game?
http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=415&picno=18043

There's a -slight- chance I may end up with one. If you've already had one then how much (in your opinion) would you pay for one in a "typical" kind of condition? I mean a decent but unrestored condition.

I am running this listing and someone has mentioned they have a Cabaret:
atlanta.craigslist.org link

I've had 12 valid responses to the listing in 3 hours but I don't think an even trade would be worth it on my part... if this pinball title/condition is mediocre.

man, is THAT a confusing product name

#3 9 years ago

Looks like fun!

But I hate videos when they don't have the bells working!

#4 9 years ago

Yes, looks like a fast one.

#5 9 years ago

I'll be honest, it looks slightly limited on playfield features with a kickout hole as the center attraction. Not really much to shoot for. Add a spinner and maybe a drop target or two and it would be a much better game IMO.

That's a very nice lawn mower Steve for a even trade for a Williams Cabaret and I would not do it.

I would hold out for a nice single player to add something different to your collection to play.

Thanks Ken and 0-din.
Yea, I'd like to find a nice wedge head or single player project but CL has been as a desert in my area for any pin worth considering for a while. There's also the Mrs. factor. There's always a Mrs. factor. A straight out cash deal and the proceeds would likely go right into the family's general slush fund and be pissed away. I'd rather end up with something I'd like to be around for a while.
I'm not particularly anxious about this pin, but if we can work out a fair deal for both parties for pin + cash then we may deal, we are still in negotiations (You know how CL goes). They say the pin plays perfectly however I see it will need a good going over and a cab strip/respray back to original. The glass and PF look to be in good condition. I'd like to have a pin which I didn't need to Varathane.
These are the photos sent:

Thanks Ken and o-din.

You're welcome! Sometimes you just can't help yourself wanting any EM machine to tinker with. I mean that's half the fun. I saw this and it reminded me of that Star Pool I picked up last year. A four player Williams in need of some love. But when I was done it was also real fun to play! It had those drop targets and a spinning device and played real fast. In the end though once I was able to max out the bonus on almost every ball, I let it go. But it was nice to have around for a while. This one though just doesn't look that fun to play.

As Brian said, the fun factor seems like it would go away quickly as the shots are limited. Seems like it would be a great starter pin for a family with small children to entertain them.

You could always change your ad to state that you will trade for a single player pinball machine only.

Thanks again.
Looks like the deal would be $250 + pin which is about what I'd spend for this game anyway however it looks doubtful. The deal would happen in 8 days, but I'm up to 16 serious inquiries on my mower for tomorrow (Saturday). If someone offers my full $400 then I go for the cash.

Those kids would be pissed! The next thing you know they would either be turned off by pinball altogether or demanding that daddy get them a modern DMD pin like AC/DC or something like that!

(sorry, I just couldn't help myself)

o-din you are just too much.... Ha ha ha ha ha

But we are the same age! I saw your picture. Long hair in the 70s and all. That's not really you now is it? I had a real cool grandpa too! Please forgive me if I'm wrong!

Hi o-din... yea I'm an old fuddy-duddy like a lot of others here

#15 9 years ago

I was a drunk fuddy-duddy last night. Oh, my aching head.

If your mower was on the west coast, i would take it for $400 easy,
as i am moving soon and new place has about 0.5acre of lawn.

cheers tom
p.s. Cabaret: not that great of a player,
most exciting thing is rattling around
in 5 pop bumper area.

I might end up with a GTLB Soccer if they will come down on the price:
atlanta.craigslist.org link

Second choice may be a WIlliams Friendship 7 but again if they'll come down, I won't pay their price. It also doesn't look that exciting and has a bad glass:

I like that soccer though.

Although I have't played one, some of those single player Williams from the 60s are real challenging and a blast to play. Very solidly built also. There may not look like much on the playfield, but it is probably going to be much better than Cabaret. If I were you, I would grab my cane, and at least go check it out.

I don't care for a Soccer theme myself but if you like Soccer than this might be a good 2 player game, maybe not as fun with just 1 player.

Friendship 7 does not look that fun for a single player plus it's an AAB which I don't care for, but maybe you don't mind.

If it were me I would still hold out for a better single player tittle.

I always thought Friendship 7 was a charming game. It might be neat alongside your Space Mission? Although now I see it isn't rated very highly. I have played it but not enough to base an opinion.

I don't think Soccer will win any awards for its outstanding art package but from what I have heard it's fun. And the backglass animation is a nice touch.

You can tell I have an itch to buy something if the price is right.
Why does it always seem the good deals appear when you're not in the market... and when you are in the market then everything is priced as platinum? Funny how it works out that way.

I've scoured the CL listings within a couple hundred miles of my home and have a few possibilities. Ken has read me right, I'd like to get away from a 4 player game. Would love a wedge. Who knows what I may or may not end up with and I don't want to string you folks along so I guess we'll just have to see how it goes.

Hopefully I'll start a new thread in a few days.

I actually enjoy hearing about your possibilities Steve, keep posting them as it is fun to live vicariously through you right now as I cannot buy another pin until after we move which hopefully will happen in a couple months.

I might end up with a Big Casino project with a bad glass:
atlanta.craigslist.org link

I find the wedge and card theme appealing except for the flipper/lower PF arrangement. Its description is "Cleaned and shopped" but that can mean anything. There's also a Brite Star which "Needs work" no pics in the advert http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=378&picno=46786 and I like the Roto Target and they're asking more than the Big Casino. But I like the lower PF arrangement better.

They'll both need to come off their asking price though... and it looks like the Mrs. factor may win over else I end up under the dog house for a while.

This is like a living soap opera today.

#24 9 years ago

Big Casino is one of those unfortunate games where a repro backglass costs more than the game is reasonably worth (even if the game is free).

#25 9 years ago

Your right Steve, the flipper arrangement on Big Casino was not very well thought out IMO too, and it seems others have made the same comment. The fun vs frustrating factor looks like the latter would take the lead for me so I would pass on it.

I would still keep looking for a better player if it were me.

Sorry your having a soap opera type of day. I think most of us have been there at one time or another with the misses in regards to pinball and they usually win the argument, at least for one day.

"Big Albino", as Tim Arnold calls it is one of those games that despite being a wedgehead, gets no love. They always seem to have bad backglasses and good playfields. This is likely due to not being played very much in the day, then not being stored correctly because it's not a prized game to begin with. The repop was made, but you have to ask yourself if it's worth it. My brother says he likes his, but hasn't gotten a glass for it. I guess if you set it up correctly and use the biggest juiciest rubber donuts on all the lower playfield posts, you can make it reasonably playable.

Well all this has been for naught. My pretty mower had more than a bad belt, there's a bad bearing etc in the transmission. The input pulley wobbles like a weeblo (for those of us who remember those wretched things) so my mower went for drastically less than I had anticipated - I didn't want to mess with fixing it. The funds I thought I'd had dried up.

I have to admit it was kinda fun to look around. It's just not my time for a new pin yet.
But there's always next time Muhaha Muhaha Muhaha
